Which of their D men is anchoring PP1?

Faulk and Hamilton are on the first unit, with Slavin on the second.

If Faulk or Hamilton can adjust to one-timing the puck from the left half-wall, the 1st PP will be dynamic with goal scoring from the left (Faulk/Hamilton), the center (Faulk/Hamilton) and the right (Aho) as well as in front of the net (Zykov.)

Carolina was also bottom third in the league in GF and PP %. Poor goaltending + lackluster goal scoring aren't a recipe for success. They cant outscore their problems like a team like Philly

My complaint wasn't that the thread exists, but that it's credibility is wearing off after we get similar predictions every year.
Who’s Credibility? You think it’s the same poster making these threads?

Majority of Canes fans in our yearly poll predict (like last year, and the year before, and the year before.,,) that we won’t make the playoffs.

Nobody into analytics would or should be surprised if they were good.

That said, they haven't really addressed what was holding them back, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were bad either.

Well, it's about damn time they made a playoff push. They have, like, seven top-4 d and added a 2nd overall pick. This core is running out of excuses at this point.

This core? There are only 2 players on the opening season roster this season that were on the opening season roster just 3 years ago. Staal and Faulk, that’s it. Most of the core have only arrived the past couple of years.

The thing is, the core that missed the playoffs for a decade isn't here any more.

If you go back to 2015-16, these are the guys who are still on the roster, and their ages in 2015-16:
Jordan Staal (27)
Justin Faulk (23)
Victor Rask (22)
Phil Di Giuseppe (22)
Jaccob Slavin (21)
Brett Pesce (21)
Brock McGinn (21)

That's it. Other than Staal and Faulk (who is expected to be traded any minute now), they burned it all down. We basically had a rebuild from 2010-16 that completely failed and the entire core was launched into the sun, re-starting the process with a core of guys who are all still 24 and under.

The credibility of the concept itself.

That being said, I've bought into the concept in the past and can buy into it again. Let's see if they finally get some good goaltending and if Zykov really has arrived at the NHL level.

Do Canes fans ever call them Scarolina? Like "hey are you guys going to the Scarolina game tonite lol.?"

I would say that if I were in Carolina.

They have the potential for sure, but I'd put it in a I'll believe it when i see it category.

Wash/Pit are the only real locks in the division as they've been doing it for a decade+ consistently and still have their cup rosters intact. After that any of Columbus/Philly/NJ/Carolina could make a splash.

Multiquote doesn't function on my phone so @tarheelhockey @Boom Boom Apathy...

I overestimated how static your roster had been under Francis.

Anyways, rebuilds -or whatever you guys classify your teams direction as- when they succeed, do so immediately, generally with significant contributions from ELC players. You guys added a couple more, so, we'll see. But I think this going to be a defining year for Carolina.

The successful rebuilds/retools -Hawks, Pens, Caps, Kings, Bruins, Lightning, Leafs- all took huge steps forward within 3 seasons. Those that didn't, still haven't, or even regressed. And once all that money is committed to your core, it's tough to fix.

similar predictions but different threads from different people - which BTW, if you go back and find all these threads, assuming they exist, you probably won't find that they weren't started by Canes fans because that's really not how two-six rolls.

If 5 different people in 5 different years tell you they like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, I don't draw any long-range conclusions from that other than out of all the people, and out of all those years, five of them chose to share with me that they like PB&Js

I never once said they were started by Canes fans.

I never once said they were started by Canes fans.

So then you are likely to admit that all these posts over years don't seem connected or part of some psychotic grassroots effort to raise their perception somehow.

So then they are likely to just simply be the opinions of different people who came to similar conclusions at different times independent of each other....

So then why the beef? There have to be at least 45 million dumber things posted here over the years
