What do you think couild be worked out if we offered Zuccarello with possible retention in exchange for Hagelin? Actually I would prefer not to retain on Zucc because the idea would be to get a substantial return for the deal and then also possibly retain on Hagelin in a deadline deal for another substantial return. I don't think the Rangers have that many opportunities left to hold salary IIRC. Would Pittsburgh be willing to give up a 1st or more for the upgrade from Hags to Zuccarello?

The Penguins don't need to shed salary this offseason, why would they need to do that? The only notable players they have to sign are Rust, Sheahan and Oleksiak. They're not going to trade Hagelin for salary relief.

Pens don't have any cap problems, no need to trade him. They'll let him walk in 2019 so they can resign Guentzel

Fair enough. I always liked him when we had him. I completely understand why you would want to keep him.
