Namita was previously with the Eagles (won a Superbowl!) and has been a solid follow on Twitter. She basically got noticed presenting at the Vancouver Hockey Analytics Conference a few years back as an undergrad with no formal (AFAIK) background in hockey.

Western Law students simulate NHL arbitration case

Western's Entertainment and Sports Law Association hosted their eighth annual Western Law Hockey Arbitration Competition for law students with a passion for sports and a knack for persuasion.

16 teams of law students took part. Half took the side of the player, half the team. They had to impress an impartial (guest) judge of their rationale for awarding a contract based on the NHL's CBA.

“It's an opportunity for law students to work on their oral advocacy skills, but the difference with this is it’s a bit more fun and that they get to argue over hockey statistics rather than different case law,” said Rudolph.

NHL agents and members of NHL team front offices among those who participated as guest judges.

Paywall (but you can download app and read 3 articles/month for free).

Just in case you ever want to apply.

Highlight/nutshell:
For an 82-game season, Hatze Petros sends out a memo to clubs asking for desired dates in late September or early October. Then there’s a back and forth between Hatze Petros and the clubs about what works and what doesn’t from the dates requested. One thing to look for right off the bat is the long road trips for each club based on their arena being booked for a long stretch, so the process starts with booking those trips. Then they look at TV requirements, among other factors, and the process goes right through the third week of June.

Deadline for 2021-22 dates to schedule maker is this week.

Anyone on here have any thoughts on the difficulties that are presented to women entering the sports world? Unspoken prejudice? Would love to hear from someone interested in entering the industry as a career that has some awareness of the situation.
