Boom goes the dynamite.

Great deal. Currently the Canes 1C putting up low-end 1C or high-end 2C numbers. Either slot for $4 million, for the next 6 years, is a steal.

GMRF does it again! This is is the first big contract he's given out. I was expecting more of a bridge, but I'm glad to have Rask locked up longer term.

Nice deal. Could become a low end 1C or high end 2C, but comfortably a solid #2 right now. This deal will just get better with time.

More like average 2C IMO. But good deal for that.

I don't disagree entirely, but the Canes have very low offensive numbers overall due to talent and system. Hard to put up high numbers when nobody is cracking 50 points.

Bravo Canes fans!

Nice deal.

I'd be honest, being a Habs fan, I didn't care and was so much ''meh'' on your team for so long, but since 2-3 years, I really like the direction you guys are heading.

I really do enjoy watching some of your games.

Congrats!

Thrilled with this deal. Rask is a $4M kind of player now, going into his age 23 season. If his career is anything resembling ordinary, in a couple of years this will be fair at worst and a steal at best.

Rock solid deal! Rask still has a lot of upside, think this is totally fair right now with potential to be a steal.

 $24 million???

For a guy who has scored 21 goals in his 2nd NHL season, under 50 points, doesn't hit or block shots, is a mid 2nd rounder to begin with, has played under 17 minutes a night (12th in ice time among Canes skaters) for a non-playoff team?

The hope must be that the 23 year old will develop some more and prove to be more than a tweener (not good enough to be a 2nd liner on a playoff team, but good enough to be a top-9 forward for an average team.

The signing is not by any means 'great'. It may turn out to be okay. Or two years from now he may be an overpaid 15 minutes a night 15-goal scoring, non-physical forward to be shipped to expansion Vegas along with a higher pick to unload his contract.

Yeah, vippe. You are Swedish, he is Swedish. We get your optimism. But there's no hard evidence that he's worth a 6-year deal at the moment. "Solid" is not exactly the right adjective.

If his trajectory is upwards from 48 points (which surprised me honestly), then this should be an outstanding contract moving forward. What's his comparable? I'm not familiar with the Canes roster overly.
