Darling, lined up with the shooter’s torso rather than the puck.

A very simple understanding of geometry is all he needs here.

This is not acceptable at the pro level.
I beg to differ we are paying for this $@$% Can we get rid of Darling and all the coaches (Tonight?)

That slow-mo clearly showed Darling squaring up with Vesey’s torso, not squaring with the puck.

That’s just... I mean... that’s... that’s pee wee ****. What in the ****ing world.

He's 6 foot 6...... he takes another step or two out, there's zero net to shoot at.

It's not like he had to play the pass and Vesey was a left shot on the left wing side. He had no other move except to shoot the puck.

Like, he looks like my brother when he plays Men's League without goalie skates.

They deserve to sit and watch those hats fly. Pathetic excuses for hockey players.

Honestly, you remove Darling and Ryan from this game, replace with something average, and it's probably a W for the canes. Darling and Ryan have been the weakest link for so long now I can't remember. Ryan was doing ok for a bit, but dropped off a cliff somewhere yet continues to get what 15-20 minutes a night? Darling is still on our team somehow with an attrocious showing for months. I can't even believe he's still getting games.

His size doesn't matter when he plays like a blind, disabled midget with an attitude problem

I think it's ****ing up our shooting as well....

You go against Darling in Practice and everything is going in and you feel great going into the game.

Then you pump 30 shots at the goalie's chest and you're wondeirng "WHY AREN'T THESE GOING IN LIKE THEY DO IN PRACTICE?"

You know I never looked at it that way, but I think you've really hit on something.

What comes first? the chicken or the egg? I've said in the past I think our goalies suck because our players keep shooting it right at them in practice.

And our goalies have been an issue for a while....sooooo

Tripp mentioned in in the broadcast, so I don't want to beat a dead horse, but it's more than that. He's *moving*. There's no need to be moving. Vecey has no path to the net. His only option is to shoot. And he's crouching, taking us *less* space for no reason. Yeah, being on his angle would be nice, but there's so much going wrong, he just shouldn't be playing.

Their sins stretch longer than this one game. And of course I'm exaggerating out of 9 years of horse **** hockey. We have a few players that don't suck.

I honestly feel bad for the guy, not having much to work with for four seasons, but I don't see how it can be argued that he's part of the solution. He's showed zero ability to motivate and prepare his team. He's shown that he'll play favorites over more deserving players. He's a dial tone. There's just nothing there. The only thing keeping me going is that I'm 99.9% sure he's gone once we get a new GM.

Part of me says “yeah but he put this motley bunch of players in absolutely EVERY position to win this game, and it was torpedoed by the worst goaltending in the NHL.”

The other part of me says “yeah but Peters picked the god damn goalie”.

It's time to kill two birds with one stone. End the Peters/Darling eras. It's best for them and the team going forward at this point.

Also, can we never play a game at MSG again? Can all future road games with the Rangers take place at Barclays or even Nassau instead?

He also continues to play Ryan even though Ryan has been horrendous for 50 something games now

If Ryan doesn't turn over pucks like it's his hobby, perhaps Vesey's GWG goal doesn't happen. At least not at the point it did.

It's more than just the goalie, though. Where's the urgency? Where's the intensity? Where's the physicality? IMO, Peters and Francis shared a brain. They are both "even keel" guys. "Never too high, never too low." I just don't think it's what we need (or what Dundon wants).

what is also concerning is looking at his posture, he's so afraid of his vulnerable 5 hole that he's literally turtled up and making himself more compact. he's ready to drop into butterfly in a situation where it makes no sense. plus, his depth in the net. when we were talking the other day about how deep into the V trajectory of the shot you need to go and how each inch further out makes the shot have to be better and better, this is the exact example of that principle in real time. size isn't an advantage for goaltenders that ball up and retreat into the net.

Guys, I'm really starting to not love this whole Scott Darling situation. I know it's a 4 year deal but I say if he doesn't improve in the next 2 and a half years then then we should look at trading him at the 2021 deadline to try to get back some assets. Just my two cents though

If I'm Peter's I'm playing Darling the rest of the way. Drive the point home that he's absolutely awful and force him to be cut this summer. Force the issue that goaltending absolutely must be fixed. If he gets canned, at least he can go into future interviews saying he did what was best for the future of the franchise.

This team isn't making the playoffs. Now is the time to.figure out what we got for 2019.
