For those interested, this cost Carolina $13,125, paid to Edmonton and not counted against the cap.
So Carolina claims Forsberg and then waives Nedeljkovic. So either:
(a) they don't trust Ned as a #3 right now or
(b) they wanted to waive Ned either to play in the AHL or put him on the taxi squad, but didn't want to risk someone claiming him until they had another option lined up.
Do you not already have Mrazek and Reimer on the roster though?
They can't send Forsberg to the AHL/Taxi Squad, so they'll have to keep all three goalies on the active roster.
Seems strange.
Why can’t they send Forsberg to taxi?
Why can’t they send Forsberg to taxi?
Well, if Edmonton had kept him on their roster they wouldn't have lost him.
They can waive ReimerJust seems strange to force yourself into carrying three goalies for a guy like Forsberg.
Makes me wonder if Ned clears, they immediately put Forsberg back on waivers and Ned on taxi?Do you not already have Mrazek and Reimer on the roster though?

If Ned gets claimed, work a 3 goalie roster and put an extra skater on taxi?
Would they want to lose him?
I feel like a team like the Devils would snap him up. A decent goalie only making $850k in real dollars for the year seems pretty attractive.

First dmen and now goalies.
Carolina has a hoarding problem. They won’t even let their former 3rd string goalie leave them.
