I 100% understand. Not that the guys cant buy him beers, but its more the question of, why I am treated like a child here.
I am not sure folks can digest the level of cultural differences we are talking about for a kid coming over here to ride the little chocolate train in Hershey. Getting to europe is the first step, but even then, every country is different.
Randy random story.se ..... I went to Gothenburg with 3 other dudes for a bachelor party (after Amsterdam and Copenhagen what a trip). Anyways. we sit at an empty round table at some bar, and within about 30 minutes, swedes overtook our table and sat among us and starting talking to us. Guys and girls alike, and they all spoke perfect english. I go to take a piss from pounding ciders, and every time the guys next to me are talking to me in swedish. I had no idea what they are talking about, i just spat out random sounds and cuss words like they were. Strangers were basically talking to me the entire time. This has never happened to me in the thousands of times I have gone out to american bars.
EVERYTHING is different. Clothes food cars bars police... cops do anything to not intervene and let the people do as they wish. Almost apologizing to for you being too drunk. Get this, promiscuous women are not frowned upon. Yes they are a sexually liberated country and everyone is allowed to have sex without being judged. Mind blown. At that same bar, a woman warned me that I needed to be careful as guys were getting their beers laced with roofies. Sounded enticing until I realized it would be some viking dude trying to drag me to his arctic flat. And they have
herring pizza. Or some fish toppings. And their pizza is super huge and super thin. No air conditioning. Topless beaches. Nuff said.
I don't blame him for going back home, its not like he is going to stop developing. He got a cup of coffee here. Its just like a kid from Hershey getting a cup of coffee in DC. It's the same thing, and its a good thing.
