The NHL should be hiring this guy not a team. The NHL needs to start acknowledging that we the fans require this database or information

Someone else will build a site, if only so they can be the next nhl hire

Not know how to use google in 2016. Just searched and found 3 other sites that maybe don't look as good but all have the same info.

Cap Friendly shot down the rumor. Which means they interviewed with an NHL team and the club wasn't impressed with the person.

Somehow I can actually see that. This is becoming a business model (though not a long lasting one). Build a cap information site and wait for a team to fish you up.

The NHL just needs to grab one of these sites or build their own.

At the very least, you'd think someone like Rogers could even step up. They're determined to own everything related to hockey (in Canada at least), and seem intent on plastering their name on anything and everything even remotely hockey related.

Them venturing into a site like that (even via Sportsnet) would seem like a strong opportunity to put their name on something that people actually like/enjoy for once.

Yeah, they should. But considering how awful the new NHL site is and the new team pages are, I don't think they are thinking with their head.

Of course, my tinfoil hat says that these are actually 'hush money' hires to shut down the sites as Bettman doesn't want this information available.

A message to our fans:

General Fanager is shutting down.

It is with sadness that we close the doors to this incredibly fun passion project. We launched General Fanager in May of 2015. Along the way, we have come to serve and get to know an incredible base of users that we will greatly miss.

For anyone that ever helped with the site, from those that pitched in on busy days, to those that reported site errors, or helped track down details, or those that promoted our work, or just simply those that routinely typed generalfanager.com into their address bar: Thank you.
