Vancouver is mathematically eliminated from playoff contention when

  • Colorado scores a single point
  • Failing that, Vancouver loses in any fashion

I'd love to see Bo get 30 goals this year so I'm going with Bo gets a hatty in a regulation 4-3 loss.

Canucks haven't been in the playoff conversation for more than a month....big off-season coming up. I can't believe the owner would stand by if another season shows signs of going down the drain.

Canucks with oodles of cap space and a GM who might be desperate to save his job......not a positive combination.

I'm not dropping this ridiculous avatar till we're officially done lol

Go yotes!
I don't get your avatar, a dipiction of dumb and dumber with 40 on it ,Pettersson's number. A player that's proven to be incredibly smart and probably smarter than the whole coaching staff put together. This place is getting dumber and dumber.

Lots of happy Canuck fans today..Horvat,Hughes,Boeser,EP..Could we go into a 3rd consecutive year with a Calder candidate?

Pierre McGuire thinks the Canucks have a legit shot at playoffs next year (so do I).

When you have been the worst team in the NHL over the last four years you absolutely should be having a player contend for the Calder in each of the last years.

Not necessarily..we’ve never won the lottery,or picked higher than 5..it’s not a given at all..Boeser (Calder runner up was picked 23rd).

Season is whimpering to a conclusion. Even the draftists must be subdued. Realistically, the only team the Canucks can actually finish behind is Anaheim, and they're in full on tank mode themselves. So in terms of enhancing their draft position, the last four games are virtually meaningless.

And even their AHL team is now on playoff life support--and will likely be dead shortly. You've really got to dig deep to put a positive spin on this season. The rallying cry at the start of the season: "we want to be playing meaningful games in March". But they weren't even playing 'meaningful games' win February.

There is going to be what, a half dozen rookies each year “contending” for the Calder? If that’s the case, and you have picked in the top six four of out the last five years, you would reasonably expect around three Calder contending years. This isn’t rocket science.

Mentioning Boeser but conveniently ignoring virtanen and Juolevi is hunurous.

Ok..two consecutive Calder finalists, and probably a third coming up..If Demko becomes an NHL regular with Virtanen (and the rights and possible return of Tryamkin)..that 2014 draft isn’t looking so bad either.

You can carry on obsessing over Joulevi though..

You are going off topic. We are not talking about the 2014 draft and Demko, we are talking about whether it is impressive that the worst team over the last four years, that has picked in the top six four of the last five years, may have three rookies that contend for the Calder. Do you think that is impressive?

You must have been incredibily impressed by the 2016-17 Maple Leafs who had 3 guys in the top 6 Calder voting and one of them even winning it. Btw, all drafted while Benning running the Canucks.
