You absolutely worry that these dinosaurs will fall in love with his size.

Guarantee the press release says "he adds element of size and experience". You can just assume that for every signing/acquisition over 6'1.

Appreciate the enthusiasm, but his numbers make him a #2 center.
He has put up 181 Pts/320 GP for a .57 PPG. The #1 AHL centers put up nearly a PPG e.g. - Cal O'Reilly, last year 67Pts/67GP in Iowa and Sam Carrick 61Pts/61GP.

Last season Tanner Kero had the role of #1 center and was close with 57Pts/67GP and his overall AHL numbers are .72 PPG.

Graovac put up 50 in 65 last season with Stockton, but only 29/53 the previous season in Hershey. Both Hershey (69Pts/8th place in an 8 team division) and Stockton (68Pts/67th place in a 7 team division) were poor teams.

Unless one is simply pumping his tires he is the #2 Utica needs. Hamilton will be #4. Kids will be just as poor again if Darcy and Woods are #s 2 and 3. Graovac will look good with Perron and Boucher, but should have Jasek and MacEwen. (Lind, Gadjovich, and Malone, etc.) Someone from Vancouver is going to end up here, but he is a stash for Vancouver and like Gaudette last season will be gone with the 1st injury because the #s NHL fill-in wise are REALLY low.

There are still a lot of AHL/NHL journeymen centers out there , but going fast as well as wings with a scoring reputation.

Right now you would have:
Boucher/#1/MacEwen
Perron/Graovac/Jasek
Gadjovich/Malone-Gaudette-Vancouver ditch/Lind
Bancks/Hamilton/Arseneau

That is every forward so far and Boucher is not signed.
Seamus Malone joined the Comets at the end of last season on an ATO out of NCAA Wisconsin where he recorded 104Pts/143GP for a .73 PPG. He scored 3G/6GP on a goal starved Comets roster before unfortunately breaking his arm (Canucks Luck?). Downside is 5'11"/165. Hopefully he has put on some smart weight and strength over the summer. If not a center he is a LW. He is signed to an AHL contract. Reminds me of the contract Zalewski was on after the Canucks didn't re-sign him before he forced another contract out of them because they wanted to bring him up. Right now he is free labor based on the 50 Vancouver contracts. He is skilled, can't argue with that.

Have to see what else JB has up his sleeve before the Comets roster shakes out. Perron and Graovac should be good for the team.

As of now the veterans would be Graovac, Boucher, Hamilton and Bancks.
They need a veteran D-man for certain. There are NHL/AHL types who are available. Many would not be Vets, some might be Veteran Exempt meaning 5 Vets can still play even with the VE in the lineup. I would not be opposed to using Hamilton and Darcy (not a Vet) as reserves, but if possible a better replacement for Darcy would be a better move. Either the #1 center that's still missing (unless he comes from Vancouver in their roster establishment or by means of trade acquisition through reducing the Vancouver roster by trading extra Canucks to get another player back. He has not been a big help to any of the kids in his 2 seasons with the Comets.

Yes, that was my thought as well. Is Graovac the veteran center BG has been pining for, or is he just a replacement for Tanner Kero?

Assuming Kero leaves and Graovac replaces him, Utica got worse, not better. Kero was a really, really solid AHL player who probably could have replaced Granlund on our NHL roster without losing anything.

Kero has signed a two-year, two-way contract with Stars. A little surprised Dallas gave him an extra year....but a solid depth player in any organization.

Kero is a better player than 3-4 guys who saw substantial time in Vancouver last year. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him stick as a utility player in Dallas.
