I'm gonna..
i would be skeptical of baertschi in the lineup and the ability of the computer to project gaudette or hughes.

so switch out sutter for gaudette and eriksson for baertschi. replace hughes with biega. what do we get?

Troy Stecher is listed twice, but it's maybe a 1 point difference with Tanev in instead.

Fair points but when you mention that SJ fans see him as a defensive specialist you are going to draw some responses. Whoever these SJ fans are clearly don’t know jack about hockey. He has some skill but he would probably head back to Sweden for a few years imo
These are the same fans who have that cringing powerplay chant. Wouldn’t surprise me..

Yeah I'm heavily skeptical of it. WAR is an odd stat for hockey. Better suited to baseball. Interesting at least, though.

@Melvin might have an interesting opinion on this.

kind of like trying to guess whether a stew will taste good based on how much people like the individual ingredients.

baseball is a series of 1 on 1 controlled contests and so more susceptible to this kind of statistical accounting.

Kings fan coming in piece, what would Vancouver give up for LA to take Eriksson?

3 years left would align with when Brown and Carter come off the books in LA and I like what Carolina did with Marleau and want LA to do something similar.

they are skipping the ltir issue that gets them back to 24.

but i guess it is true that if they waive two "schallers" they pick up another million in cap space, giving them $7.0m to sign boeser with $880k to spare for the 24th player and emergency injury call ups without dipping into ltir relief.

so eriksson and schaller in the minors might be a thing.

Would things work out if baertschi retires? Hes had his concussion issues... I actually thought last season he was gonna be gone

I never heard of the place before now but I see they have a forty page thread dedicated to obsessing over this forum.

Geez, that seems pretty unhealthy to me.

I've only read the most recent page of that thread, and holy f*** is it hilarious when you imagine grown adults sitting there hunt-and-pecking out those posts.

Obviously speculation, but I assume Sutter will go with a sweetener. Dunno if it'll be Virtanen.

I absolutely would not give Virtanen to get rid of Sutter. Sutter is still a useful enough player if he can return to form, there’s no reason to do that. At worst we should retain 50% of his contract which should actually equate to him having positive value.

Sucks to see Vegas willing to move Gusev and Benning emptying the clip on JT Miller at the draft.

You could most likely get Gusev without giving up a 1st and I'm willing to bet he is a much more productive player that Miller over the next couple seasons.

I don't think the quality of play is as high in the KHL as people think. I definitely would not move a 1st for Gusev, and would not bet on him outproducing Miller over the next 2 years. Maybe he comes in and lights it up, but the odds of that are not very high.

... Yikes what are we basing this on? Gusev hasn't even played an NHL game and is a year older than Miller.

Honestly I have no idea at this point. Who knows what we'll even have over here this time next week.

I posted there for a bit in the early 2000s. I was pretty young and tried to engage in honest debate but that whole board was basically an echo chamber for about 5 really weird guys who were all about their super-involved online personas and didn't know jack **** about hockey. One of them would make a really stupid argument (one of the only things I can remember is that they LOVED Dan Cloutier) and you'd respond and then you'd have 5 guys ganging up with the same stupid argument and then all high-fiving each other for drowning you out and how smart they were. It was a waste of time to post there and I really didn't have the time to post on two boards so I left.

And yeah, it's hilarious that they're still obsessed with me 15 years later. They tried coming here last year and their stupid personas with no substance got absolutely destroyed (and not just by me) and they ran back to that board and got even more bitter.

I remember lurking in Canucks Corner due to there being that Hockey Widow poster who made some breaking news from inside sources, though I can't remember what they were now. I do know that she (assuming the poster is in fact female) lost whatever in she had quite some time ago, though. No idea if she still posts there.

And their board raids here are so sad. I've never seen such a striking combination of complete wrongness and smug attitude before. They want to "be positive" and they really do think that we're being negative because of groupthink and/or we're big meanies who want to pile on poor, helpless Benning and his followers. They either genuinely can't understand the data we're using to form our opinions or they're so bitter at being made fun of and shot down they're personally invested in Benning being right and good. Then the negative stuff happens (like most of us foresaw) and they feel even worse. And get even madder. Totally doesn't remind me of anyone around here...

Gaudette or Demko off the top of my head but don’t quote me on that. I don’t want to be Flamed by my fellow Nuck fans. :p

Based on????
Didn’t they had another Russian dude who they signed from the KHL during their first season but was not good enough for the nhl so they sent him back right away

The funny thing about this is that the Canucks don't even have anything to offer. They traded one of their next two firsts and they aren't moving the other one, and have basically no prospects that are worthwhile. I doubt Olli Juolevi or Jett Woo gets it done. Could maybe give you Podz.

My good buddies Blob and RoyalDude are on to MS' comments about Doc. :-p.

Can't the mods let them back on here for a showdown? The Michael Ferland thread would be a good place for debate (Strange, Blob, and RD probably love the Ferland signing, while most anti-Benning guys on here will not like it).

@PG Canuck - anyway you can unban those guys. :D.

Yeah, that’s not going to happen.

I think that’s enough discussion on what happens on other message boards. If that group wants to have somewhere to vent their spleens about how awful HF is, then they can fly at it. I think it’d be more constructive for everyone here to just shut that sort of nonsense out entirely and focus on talking Canucks and hockey in general here on HF.
