A little early, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to keep tabs on Detroit, who are on a 3-game winning streak (DAL-CBJ-NJD), and can make it 4 against Edmonton tomorrow. This could be far less of a gimme than I anticipated.

Goes to show how much overtime skews things. In 15-16 we opened the season going 1-7 in our first 8 games that remained tied after 3.

Regulation we were 6-4 to start the 15-16 season through game 16, but horrendous luck in OT/SO.
Last year it was 8-6 in the first 16 games, with an 0-2 record in OT/SO.
This year we are so far 5-6 in games decided in regulation but riding a 4-0 OT/SO record.

Team has played a lot of hockey with no more than one day breaks for what seems like weeks.Probably good to have a bit of a rest and recharge the batteries.

It would be nice if Quinn Hughes had a better slapper; the PP could use a real gun on the point. If the PK has to come out hard to challenge the point it will open up the cross seam passes between EP and BB. Newell Brown seems to like the 4 forward umbrella setup with a fwd in the slot and Horvat down low. That means the 1 defenseman (Hughes in the future) on the top unit has to be both a play maker and a threat to shoot. What Hughes does very well however are a) speed through the neutral zone to help gain the zone and b) moves the launch point of his shot around.
