Further, that highlight package showed exactly one defensive play, a sweep check on a charging forward. It didn't show any hits, and down-low containment or takeaways, which are integral elements to defense in today's NHL.

If he can grow another 2 inches or so, he will be on the gravy train. As it stands right now, he doesn't suit today's NHL defensive game. He is like a Coffey-type; an offensive d-man from a bygone era. Hell, even Erik Karlsson, who is considered "small" by defenseman standards, is 6'0, 180. I DO like that the kid seems to be okay with fighting, though.
I am working on his highlight video as well and again i've noticed the same concerns with his defensive game as I had prior to the draft. I am taking the optimistic approach with Subban, but i think we have to be aware of how much work he needs in his all around game to make it.

Jordan is not a physical defender and at times, i really question his ability to read the play defensively. Most of the highlight reel rushes against Belleville are the result of Jordan's carelessness with the puck and his turnovers. I'd say if he was of legal age, he'd have to buy Malcolm and Graham several cases of beers for the times they have bailed him out or the times he left them out to dry. There were a few times when he got back in time to face two on ones, he does not seem to play the pass or shot. At times, he just stands in front of the net watching players jam away and if he does initiate contact, he does not have the strength or size to box out the larger forwards in the OHL.

I'm not a fan of the pick, actually. For many of the reasons you cite.

I felt there was better value at that spot elsewhere. Same with the Williamson pick (obviously). It will be interesting to see how he develops though.

You think a switch to forward could be a possibility? He could still man the point on PPs.

Just a reminder that Subban was a 4th round pick. There are going to be flaws to his game. If he was PK we wouldn't be getting him in the 4th round.

Size and defensive is the Only reason he was a 4th. If he was PK's height, his skill level is close (some people say offensively he might even be better then PK) around subbans from reports.

Finished the Subban Highlight video; disclaimer, no defensive plays included.

Wow his hands are sick, No defensive plays is obvious because well, he is known for his offensive talent lol

PK has flaws to his game as well. His size and athleticism has made up for it for the most part. Not expecting Jordan to be on his level but I doubt he would be picked anywhere lower than late 2nd if he's 2 inches taller.

JS could be the steal of the draft

When PK was drafted in 2007, 43rd overall in the Second round
He was 5'10" and 180lbs or so

Now at 24, PK's listed at 6'0 and 206, so some growing went on

Jordan is 5'9" and 175lbs so spurt he most likely will

If Jordan was 6'0", he would of went in the first round already

If he was 6'0" he'd have been able to play defense and handle forwards. The odds of 5'8.5" hitting a decent size are tiny. There is as much chance of him making the NHL as a converted to forward as there is of him being an NHL dman.

Low end he will be a small PP specialist in the mold of MA Bergeron.

Best case he will be a small offensive minded defensman who can jump up into the rush intelligently and still be competent defensively, using his stick and intelligence to break up plays like Tanev, with much more offensive upside.

IMO he will never be a Norris candidate, but you never know.

That's definitely a stretch. What makes you think that? He's still very much a project player.

Well he could be ready soon but I am just saying that because it might just be me, but I like to be safe when it comes to developing players. I know Tortorella can develop young players well but it might just be me, but who knows he can be ready next year. I hope Subban can put on a little bit more height and some weight though before he steps into the NHL.

It is nice discussing semantics with you. My original statement was 'it is very unlikely'

When there are 2 possible outcomes, 1 being greater than 80 percent to happen, that outcome becomes likely, the other option becomes unlikely.

I shouldn't really need to go into this much detail, you are obviously trolling me here. I am done with this conversation.

LOL. I'm not sure if he really is trolling are believes himself.
