Not sure the best team won but who cares, take the two points and move on. I didn’t think Reimer was any more than solid, but that’s all he should be. Got lucky with the posts on shots he got beat cleanly on.

Great game by Nino, rewarded with the empty net. Tough on the puck, good defensive plays.

Best news to me was Trocheck. He looked like old Trocheck tonight. He’s so strong on the puck, shooter mentality and he’s starting to have confidence carrying it into the zone. The goal was his first goal that looked like a standard goal he’s always scored. He’s a sniper and lawd we need that.

Very true. And he's not nearly as strong on his skates.
In comparison to Svech they’re just so different in how they approach the game. Svech used a short stick with a high lie - it’s always in his feet which makes it easy for him to control. Necas uses a long stick with a lower lie so the puck sits much further away from him. He has to play more conservative with it to maintain control, but that’s his flaw. He’s so loosey goosey with the puck, very little poise. The stick thing means he often puts the puck into the defenders space because it’s so far in front of him. Puck protection is not his thing, both in style and the stick choice. The exact opposite for Svech in both categories.

Yeah, that's a good explanation. Also, lack of better puck control can at times negate one of his best assets, his speed.

That said, when he is able to maintain control, he has an ability to make plays at speed...and a speed that no other Cane has.

Maniscalco's question would've been "James, you sat out the first two games but faced some shots early, was it good to see the puck a lot early on in order to really get a feel for the speed of the game after such a weird offseason and taking all this time off? Did it feel good to make some saves early and sort of help settle you in and help you get back in the swing of things, especially compared to the alternative of not seeing the puck and sort of being on edge, maybe getting a little nervous and wondering when you were going to be called on to make a save?"
And Civian's would've been: "How'd your first game feel?"

She is a breath of fresh air.

Just one note on Svech's overall confidence: this is a kid that had no problem throwing hands with Ovi at 19 yo in his rookie season. That says a lot about his general confidence level, lol.

Might need to be reigned in at times... Though I think the results of that Ovi fight may have done the trick.
