I think that this is more of a result of last year leaving a bad taste in people's mouths than it is a statement about this year so far (which has been anything but boring) or the outlook for the future (which since, we just played Detroit and saw THAT hot mess, I figure we're better than.)

Probably a whiplash from last year. With the way the team has been playing recently at least the effort is there and the games are exciting.

They will sellout out soon enough again and for a while...

Can we really be surprised...from a team that according to HF is a candidate for Hughes ?

Besides, when you sell ''only'' 20323 out of 21273, I don't thinks its the same as selling only 12k out of 20k capacity.

This isn't just from last year, it's been building for 8-10 years. The ticket reached peak demand back in 2008-2011 when the bandwagon had really crowded up in Montreal. Since then the buzz around the team has declined but greedy ownership continued to keep jacking up ticket prices every year. Not surprising this is the result. It probably actually happened 2 years ago but was covered up. For most games the secondary pricing has been under face value for a while, they were probably giving deep discounts to scalpers to fence them off.

Nothing too drastic is needed, hockey is still obviously very popular in Montreal where it's a large hockey market and the Canadiens are the only major league club in town. The management just needs to slash prices on tickets and concessions down to a more reasonable price point and they shouldn't have too much trouble getting back to capacity even if the team is mediocre.

It was a fantastic run. That arena is one of the loudest every game. I wouldn't look too much into not selling 1,000 tickets for a Tuesday night, regular season game.

Pretty easy when the building seats a couple thousand more than any other venue in the league.

You may also be shocked to learn that SEC football teams outdraw New Mexico State.

Looks as if every canadian team except Toronto, Edmonton, & Winnipeg are selling out. I mean the Flames had 17,641 (Capacity is 19,289) on hand against the Bruins tonight. Not good at all....

Aren't most sellout streaks fake? It's not really a big deal.

Sweet, I'll build a 50,000-seat arena in Atlanta, have $5 general admission tickets, and we'll see what happens.

I don't see any chance of Sens type attendance numbers ever happening. You likely don't know much about the market if you think so. Even at their worst during the Houle era, Habs never averaged under 20 000.

They won't slash prices. Maybe freeze them for a season.

I've been finding tickets here under face value on stubhub for a few years, so it's not surprising. Whether it's scalpers or season ticket holders, once the resale market drops below face value, it's obvious the demand isn't there.

People were mad about the Subban trade for over a year. Now they're just done caring it seems.

The team was absolutely terrible last year, once they start winning again, they will go back to selling out games.

Absolutely they'll sell out again but my point is that there's more to it than just a bad team. There's been growing frustration with management for years now.
