I dunno why Quinn is so determined to keep Gagne/Thornton/Nash together when they've done little in 3 games now. Same goes for Bertuzzi/Sakic/Iginla....that line has been very quiet too...try changing them up Quinn! For ONE shift he had Gagne/Sakic/Iginla and they had a great shift...and then the line of Nash/Thornton/Bertuzzi scored but with a toe in the crease. Then they were never put together again either.

Why not try something like:

Gagne/Sakic/Iginla (Salt Lake Line)

Heatley/Thornton/Bertuzzi (Cycle Line)

Nash/Lecavalier/St.Louis (2 teammates and nash)

Smyth/Richards/Doan (Checking Line)

I dunno, makes sense to me...

In my opinion the problem is not with the lines. That's a secondary problem.

I think the personel is an issue moreso than the lines.

Quinn has confidence in two of the defensemen, and both of them are playing hurt...

I would set the lines as:

Bertuzzi/Thornton/Nash
Gagne/Sakic/Iginla
Richards/Lecavalier/St.Louis
Smyth/Doan/Draper
Heatley

I like to see Bertuzzi/Thorton/Nash back together next game. Three monstrous players. They scored with a foot in the crease and hand that non-goal, which was clearly in the net.

Gagne/Sakic/Iginla is the Salt Lake line not the Nagano line.

What has Heatley done to be the 13th forward? I think he's playing very well.

No niedermayer really hurts, he is the only dman we have that was able to skate through traps.

I do too, but I don't see any intangibles he brings over the other players... probably just me. :)

Ya, it is just you. The intangible he brings is the ability to bury the puck and find open ice.

If anyone should be the 13th forward it should be Draper. The guy is an amazing PKer, but he doesn't really offer anthing on the PP or at even strength (at least nothing that any of the other forwards can't offer). He should be used specifically in a PK role and give him the odd even strength shift to keep him in the game. I certainly wouldn't be putting Heatley as the 13th forward over him. :shakehead

Bert/Heater-Sakic-Iggy
Nash-Thorton-Bert/Heater
Gagne-Vinny-St.louis
Smitty-Richards-Doan
Draper

From a Wings fan, Draper sucks. Why he is on the Canadian team, I will never get. There are SO many better players that can PK too. Shanny would have been a better choice.

Fair enough.

Heatley just doesn't impress me as much as he does others, I guess. Maybe I expect more out of him? Not really sure. He is a wicked sniper, but has seemed pretty one-dimensional to me at times this year. He did look pretty good in games without Spezza and Alfy, so again, it is probably just my perception talking here.

St. Louis is doing nothing for this team. Draper is an embarrassment. Sit St louis and use draper exclusively for PK.

Reunite Gagne with Sakic and Iggy. It was Mario on that line during the WC, but this worked in Salt Lake.

Brad Richards with Smyth and Doan is a solid checking line. I'd actually play this line a lot, but that'st just me.

Vinny with Marty and Heater has been aight. Keep them together.

This leaves the 3 big guys on the same line... Bert with Thornton and Nash. This line could be a liability due to bad penalties and lack of a defensive presence, but they could do some damage.

Kris Draper does not do it for me. In the NHL he has a valuable role. What he's doing here I have no idea.

Heatley - Sakic - Iginla
Doan - Thornton - Bertuzzi
Gagne - Richards - Nash
Smyth - Lecavalier - St. Louis
Draper (PK specialist and spot duty)

Redden - Blake
Pronger - Regehr
Bouwmeester - Foote
McCabe (PP specialist... please don't play him otherwise  )
