Now that he's had a good look at all the pieces, coach Brent Sutter will begin solving the puzzle of the team that will defend Canada's gold medal at the world junior championships.

Seems like Fistric who was heavily criticized by many fans as a stars pick (including myself) has become a mainstay defensively for canada. Nice to see as I think the stars could use a tough stay at home type once Klemm's contract expires in 2 years

Fistric will become a great, great stay at home d-man. His offensive upside is nil, but he is so solid in his own zone, its scary.

The goaltenders shone in the first intersquad game according to an article in The Province.

Team Red took it 3-2.

Comeau, Downie and McGrath scored for them and Ellis-Plante saved 24 of 26 shots for the win.

Cogliano and Gagnon scored for Team White while Dubnyk saved 35 of 38 shots.

I thought it was Price who was in the net for the red.

Only at the under 18 tournament. I'm going to scrimmage #3 tomorrow at GM Place though, hopefully Price gets to play but it doesn't look like it will happen.

Does anyone think Kris Russel has even an outside shot at making the team? I know he's very small for a defenseman(in fact, he's quite small for any position), but he does move the puck and skate well.

However, it seems there are just too many quality defensemen in front of him.

I definately think there's an outside chance. He's awesome on the PP and he could be the Ian White of the 2003 tournament.

I'd like to see him in a limited PP role but there are tons of solid d-men he has to beat out.

He looked very good out there, Price will be the starter I think. Dubnyk will probably make it, but he didn't impess me at all.

I remember the USA-Canada gold medal game two years back, when Stuart made a devastating hit and I was so happy to see that, even though it was a Canadian who was hit.
