When does the U.S enter the picture? They have like 10 guys who are #1s or highend 2s in the NHL. Werenski, Jones, Carlson, Suter, Ghost, McAvoy, Byfuglien, Schmidt, Niskanen, McDonagh, Fowler

A lotta hope and potential. Not really any right nows. Doughty, Subban, Hedman and Karlsson easily trump every one of those D's so right away they are behind the 8 ball.

Hedman ≤ King Subban
Karlsson ≥ Doughty
OEL = Vlasic
Klingberg ≤ Burns
Lindholm < Reilly
Dahlin < Piet

Team Canada for me.

Subban is nowhere near the level of Hedman imo but never less Canada for me as well

You think all those players are bonafide top pairing defensemen?

I disagree.
I'd take Sweden at any rate

Why do you disagree? Sweden's got too many great defensemen while Dahlin is still young and developing as young D-men take longer to develop.

Half a year ago Dahlin didn't quite make the top 6 in team Sweden's non-NHL Olympic lineup... now he's suddenly supposed to make their best on best lineup?

Hedman >> Subban (this really isn't close. Hedman is WAY better)
Karlsson < Doughty
OEL = Vlasic
Klingberg ~< Burns
Lindholm ~< Rielly
Ekholm ~ Letang - hard to tell because of Letang. he's capable of being >>>>>>>> but he's been injured.

And I'm not going to include Dahlin or Pietro.

this is very close.

Sweden has really developed some great dmen in recent years.

Def some better options the Dahlin. Dahlin will be great but he's not there yet.

I see these defensemen ahead as of now
Erik Karlsson
Victor Hedman
Oliver Ekman-Larsson
John Klingberg
Hampus Lindholm
Matthias Ekholm

He'd be up against Nicklas Hjalmarsson, Adam Larsson, Oscar Klefbom, Anton Stralman,
it'd be close

------

As a whole a top pairing of Karlsson - Hedman is too hard to pass upon. Sweden for me.
