15 years ago today. HOW?
The next Patrick Roy!
I wonder what's going through his mind in the third picture?
He's got the Paul Rudd gene, doesn't age lol
I thought you meant Bergevin because it feels like it's been 15 years.
He probably should have been the next Patrick Roy but we don't take steps back to go forward.
I got it: "Well, it could've been worse, could a been the Leafs."
Still mad that we didnt win Crosby
Imagine in 7 years, it'll feel like 30 years.
I still remember how my heart was racing at the possibility.
I was stunned when he was picked but in retrospect it was a great pick.
15 years of not going anywhere. Not because Price isn't good, but because we would have been a better team with Kopitar and Halak than with Price and Desharnais/Danault/Plekanec...
From the next day’s edition of The Montreal Gazette:
"WTF am I getting myself into. Gotta think positive, I'll get them real good in a few year$."
And the Calgary Herald:
One of two cornerstone players we could've built a championship team around. It's a shame things went the way they did...
Great player, just a shame how we've run the club. What a waste of talent.
Wonder how he would react to the habs drafting Askarov.
If I'm not mistaken, but the time the playoffs are done he'll be entering his 9th season as GM of the Habs. It's worthy of a Stephen King novel.
Still mad that we didn’t pick Brule
This board was losing its mind when price was picked...much like pierre mcguire.
Nobody really saw the pick coming. Rask, and price were considered the two prized goalie prospects, except rask didn't go until late in the first round.
The article posted also suggests that the habs were trying to move up that year to increase their options, so I wonder who they were targeting. They did trade for Pouliot a few years after he was drafted. I wonder if that was the guy... he ended going one pick earlier than price. Jack Johnson went 3rd, and we know how timmins loved the NCAA path. Johnson was considered a stud prospect as well.
Those would be my two guesses.
could have drafted Kopitar and one of Letang, Quick, Yandle
Great goalie. Bad teams.
In this fans life Carey was the only great goalie wasted by the Canadiens.
He's both an excellent pick and a miserable pick.
His ability during his peak really buoyed this team above their station and kept us from being shitty enough to get talent in the draft. Combine that with Bergevin wasting his prime and not getting him scoring help.. ridiculous.
Remember Cherry pumping up Brule and saying he is just as good as Crosby? . Thank god Gainey didn't fall for that! lol.
A lot of busts or disappointments in that top 10... Pouliot, Brule, Skille, Lee. Also, Wonder how good Bourdon would have been?
Separate names with a comma.
