This board was losing its mind when price was picked...much like pierre mcguire.

Nobody really saw the pick coming. Rask, and price were considered the two prized goalie prospects, except rask didn't go until late in the first round.

The article posted also suggests that the habs were trying to move up that year to increase their options, so I wonder who they were targeting. They did trade for Pouliot a few years after he was drafted. I wonder if that was the guy... he ended going one pick earlier than price. Jack Johnson went 3rd, and we know how timmins loved the NCAA path. Johnson was considered a stud prospect as well.

Those would be my two guesses.

He's both an excellent pick and a miserable pick.

His ability during his peak really buoyed this team above their station and kept us from being shitty enough to get talent in the draft. Combine that with Bergevin wasting his prime and not getting him scoring help.. ridiculous.

Remember Cherry pumping up Brule and saying he is just as good as Crosby?. Thank god Gainey didn't fall for that! lol.

A lot of busts or disappointments in that top 10... Pouliot, Brule, Skille, Lee. Also, Wonder how good Bourdon would have been?
