she's in Finland's equivalent of the AHL...which talentwise is below our ECHL. I think she'd get lit up like a cheap christmas tree, if she tried to play in the WHA.

I don't see how a woman is any different from a male NHL forward trying to play goal? I think Joe Thornton would get lit up too.

While i think it will fold very fast (couple of week after the end of the lock out.), it's been confirmed that the colisée organisation is more interested in them than the Semi-pro.

I doubt that. Semi Pro is more popular than the QMJHL in Quebec.

They get like 3500 a game...that is gaurenteed. The WHA could get more or less, but i woudlnt take that chance and ditch the Semi-Pro for a league which will fold.

I'm ready to bet there will be somewhat of a difference between the guys they picked and the ones they'll actually sign!

If they're going to pay players over $500K on average, they'll get good players.

But they have to get their off ice stuff together first.

Hayley Wickenheiser
HC Salamat Suomi-sarja 02/03 - 12 1 3 4 - 6
HC Salamat I divisioona 03/04 - 10 0 0 0 - 2

Yes....both players would be truly worth of playing against men in any of the higher leagues in America :shakehead .

The only reason Hayley had minor success in Finland is because she was not being plastered by her male counter parts everytime she handled the puck.....I believe she played the 4th line....does anybody know?

Let her or any other female play against men ranging from the ECHL up to the NHL, and you will no doubt have a serious injury on your hands.....don't kid yourselves.....if she could have played in the AHL...in her own country or in the USA, believe me, she wouldn't be in Finland.

Is that the same semi-pro league that has a ton of fighting in it? With guys like Dody Wood, Pat Cote and Link Gaetz?

I don't think a woman would do too well in the WHA. The WHA will probably to similar to AHL teams.

Yeah semi-pro is goons and scorers. The goons dont fight the scorers. There is a lot of offense and about 7 fights a game. But no cheap stuff.

It is pretty amazing hockey.

Kim St-Pierre could be a really good and cheap goalie for a team... I'd go with an all-star at 5M$ (Lindros), a goon that can skate on each line, and women for all my finesse players.

That would be a great team to watch. :)

Who cares??? :dunno:

I once saw the 15 year old Jersey district selects (Philly, Jersey, New York) take on and beat the US womens gold medal winning team in like 2001 5-2 in a game of womens rules (no checking etc) at lake placid. Pretty pathetic to see the best womens team in the world lose to a group of young kids in a legit exhibition game. Women cannot compete with men at hockey!
