To me the Olympics is the only real best on best since the WC and CC is and was invitational tournaments. Real championship tournaments got qualifers and neutral refs.
I feel like there was a missed opportunity for a three crown reference (because of Sweden's jersey).

As close as you will ever get to a true best on best, in regards to the WC tournament, but no.
From a Canadian perspective, 70 declines tells you how important it is in NA.
The Canadian team is performing well under the circumstances (70 declines), but to a Canadian International fan, very frustrating, when you have Russian/swedish players jumping at the opportunity to play, after their NHL teams are done.
