poor analogy.

No one is saying the franchise is a joke, or even that they should be ashamed of the celebration, just that it's not our cup of tea and we would be embarrassed doing something like that.

Its more like if i told a joke and you replied "meh, not that funny"

And i say, "well i laugh at all of my jokes so i don't really care"

If you care to peruse the thread, there absolutely are posts saying the players should be embarrased, etc.

If you choose to willfully overlook them because you prefer to feel persecuted over milquetoast objections that nobody is actually responding to, that's your thing.

I'm basing this off the post you quoted, and it is definitely a thing on hf where old men like myself are shamed for disapproving of things like dabbling or cellys.

You picked a weird post to take a stand on, maybe that poster was talking smack previously, i don't know.

Ah, I didn't pick up that I was responding to a different person.

IMO, there's a big difference between this and a choreographed celly. The Hurricanes wait until the opponent is completely off the ice, the refs have left, everything having to do with the game is totally done. This is purely a moment between them and the fans. Anyone who really gets offended by it can always leave, but you'd have to be a hell of a stick-in-the-mud to turn your back on a bunch of guys who are trying to celebrate with you after working their butts off to entertain you for the past three hours.

For that matter, in principle it's no different than skating a victory lap with the Cup. They could always carry it directly to the locker room and celebrate in private, but they choose to do a big choreographed celebration with the fans. It honors the significance of the moment AND the fun we're all supposed to be having. And I'm sure there were old guys in 1955 who thought it was disrespectful and juvenile, because god knows nobody ever did anything crazy when they were young.

I actually think it would be a lot of fun for the fans.

I do think it's probably a bit uncomfortable for most of the players to be silly like that, and I'm a little embarrassed for them but I'm sure they're fine.

Glad you guys have a team to cheer for again.

so they are doing these celebrations every time they win at home ice? and they change it a little every time they celebrate again? that's pretty cool, imo.
