In hockey you’re supposed to be slightly ashamed when you score a goal or win, so I can see how this might be triggering.

my understanding is you are supposed to get upset at the goalie for letting you score.

Embarrassing why ? It's not shoving it in their opponents faces for a regular season win or legitimately being so happy about one win.

It's something they came up for the fans, and trying to create a more fun culture. The feeling around the team has been so negative the last few years and there's been tons of empty seats. At the end of the day it's all about entertainment.

Attending/Watching a Carolina Hurricanes game these past several years has been.... less than entertaining shall we say. Like going to a job you feel indifferent too, you know whats going to happen throughout the day. Nothing interesting takes place, just the same predictable mundane stuff.

This team feels different, they play different, they look different, and they like the fans are tired of the same ole same ole. And this is something that we've never seen from this team since 2009, fun. There's nothing disrespectful about this (and lets hope it stays that way) and if another NHL team wanted to do this, God bless em I say.
