    Hello everyone,

What do you expect for Camy. Do you believe is able to play on the first line.

He cans repeat his season of 20 goals or more?

What is the impact of this kid in the club.

    Your opinion.

He needs to take a step forward and use his feet more. I predict a slight improvement in his goal production, to about 26 or so.

Since his first short stint a couple years ago, Cam's goals per ice time has been in the 25g range if projected out a full season, so it should be a disappointment for him not to stay at that level.

His speed dropped off significantly over the course of last year. Knowing why that happened would really help in projecting his scoring for next year. If he gets back to full speed, then 30 goals is within reach, if at the slower speed, he likely won't get enough opportunity to hit more than 15 goals. My guess right now is that he didn't have any major injuries, maybe he just lost a lot of power after a good off-season's training. Any other theories?

I don't think Jarmo is done either. Any ideas on who would be targeted with Cam going the other way?

Cam's been a consistent .5 ppg guy in every NHL season he's played and he's always projected to around the mid 20s in goals in a full 82 game season. I think he can improve more but he lacked the ability to finish a lot of the time last season, I thought.

If people say it enough, maybe it will be true. :sarcasm:

I don't really have a vibe on the inner workings of the team, but it would seem to me that Cam is the kind of talent this team needs to keep, not trade away. It's not out of the question to me that he could be a top line wing with the right teammates.

He's cheap, he's good and has room to get better. If this were someone else's guy, we'd want him.

Trade someone who may be a legitimate first-line winger this very year, in addition to something else, for a guy who's currently a first-line winger?

Sounds a bit like the people who were ready to dump Johansen before last season in a package to land a #1 center.

For Cam its time to live up to our expectations. Obviously he is a 30G, 30A guy. Don't know exactly why he hasn't reached that level yet.:sarcasm:

Seriously, I believe he could get 30 or close but he needs to improve his shooting % - 9.7 last year and 9.9 for his NHL career.

More realistically he'll be between 18-22 or so. Continue his .5 ppg career average. Has some upside but he needs to find consistency and improve his ability to finish.

And if we could package him and a pick or one of the cheap contracts to pick up a salary dump candidate like Patrick Sharp or someone of that caliber I'd sign up for it. To me Cam is like Anisimov - nice to have but someone we could live without if we replace him with an established player. Sharp has 3 years left to provide lots of time for further development of Bjorkstrand, Milano, et al.

i think it should...he's highly skilled, no doubt, but how does he fit with how the team is built? that's always been my issue with him is his low shooting percentage and watching him on the ice, he's in some ways, a miny Nash, just kinda floats around and b/c of his size and stature, doesn't really check all that much.

For the money we pay him, we get great production, it'll be interesting to see what he does this year.

as for the second part, it probably won't happen, many here believe we'll make a trade or two to improve the team, I think that Cam is one of the few that will be available to find that upgrade.

    Cool

  21. What else is in this package?

Cam Atkinson isn't nearly enough to net a top line winger so top prospect + another player would probably have to be involved.

Edit: nevermind. Looks like you're just trolling...are you upset we didn't sign John Scott? He's tall!

Lol, not trolling in the sense you say at all. It was sarcasm on my twitter, but you know, use my account however you'd like.

Do I know what a package would be? No, no I don't...I said he'd be a possible piece.

I'm a fan of Atkinson, but I've never gotten the feel that he could be a top line guy.

He's cheap. For now. Drop 30 goals this season and he's, suddenly, a lot less cheap. Even with another 20-25 goal season, he's probably going to be northward of 3 million. Yes, he obviously can get better. As far as wanting him if he was on another team. I wouldn't be salivating over him. He's small and quick. He plays ok in all three zones, but not great. His production, based on ice time, is borderline top six.

Good, but nothing I'd be targeting.
