They totally ripped off the Firebreak specialist from Red Alert 2 (the desolator trooper) lol.

He is still my favorite specialist though. A lot of fun to use and melt people through walls.

This is much different than WWII. WWII was the type of game where you need to sit back and be cautious. Running around will get you whacked in a fairly expedient manner.

BO4, sitting around will get you whacked in a fairly expedient manner and I think that is attributed to the faster game play and different map flow. Most of the WWII maps were three lane choke points and it would take longer for people to get to the other spawn and come up from behind you. BO4, the maps have more lanes therefore people can get to the other side of the map, sometimes completely uncontested in a quick manner.
That’s a great point, it really does move at an insane pace. I am constantly checking my back every 5 seconds because enemies are everywhere.

It does in core. HC is the same as its always been AFAIK, sans when an enemy is wearing Armor. They go from a 1 shot to 2 shot kill.

I jumped into a game with you Saturday night, but HC is not my jam and I was getting wasted. I promptly left after one map. :D

Side note, has anyone been looking at their in game ping? In BO3 my ping was generally 11-13ms. No matter what I do, my ping in BO4 generally ranges from 33 - 50 ms. Not a huge difference in Core but in HC where its a 1 shot kill, it makes a massive difference, especially when you are playing against some major sweat sacks. Same internet provider, and I only live about 20 miles from where I used to live so I don't think that is the problem.

LOL at major sweat sacks.

I don't recall being able to see ping in BO3 on console, but in the BO4 beta mine was 30-40. I haven't checked in the full game yet. An 11-13 ping consistently in COD sounds almost impossible for online play unless the matches are always hosted insanely close to you and the routing is perfect. That's an incredibly low number (or the measurement is not accurate) for online play.

Did you?? You should have invited me to party up!! Although to be honest, I was kinda sauced at that point

I am always down to play core. I usually play HC when I am by myself for two reasons: 1. I am significantly better at HC and 2. It is significantly easier to get head shots in HC if you are doing gun challenges.

Did not really like multiplayer at all, but i've never really liked COD multiplayer. I only bought this for the BR and it has been quite fun with squads. Pretty much what you'd hope for when you think of an "AAA studio BR". It improves on a lot what PUBG does, but there is still a little room for improvement. I hope they improve the looting system, it does not feel that intuitive when you want to change attachments/gun position (1 or 2), proximity looting would be nice. There is a little lag when opening ppl's stashes or even the crates, as well as a glitch where you get stuck in it when you walk away. But looting while on the run is miles ahead of PUBG and makes hot drops manageable. The swimming also doesn't take forever!

I like the pacing, there seems to be little to no downtime, unless you fly to parts far away from the flight path. As a result, time really flies by when you play. The circles do exactly what they should, force you in, rather than really punish you.

None of that dsync, its been smooth so far even in heavy battles. Except when you alt tab, it does some weird things, like fps drops to 15, whereas in other games, i could alt tab after death to do something else on my 2nd screen and still watch my friends play. This has been unbearable, i have to cover the screen with something else, otherwise it makes my head hurt.

If I really liked last years COD but hated the previous few COD games for being too futuristic am I gonna enjoy or hate this game? I also wasn't really into Fort Nite so not sure about battle royale either.

Won my first solo Blackout. Got lucky and the circle was always over the Asylum where I went to after dropping in.

Stayed in there and set some traps. Had a rocket launcher to take out the 3rd place guy and the other guy and I waited it out till the last circle shrank all the way and he died lol I’ll take it

WW2 was pretty mediocre IMO. It was OK but I thought the launch maps were pretty bad. BO4 is a little faster and definitely more intense. The gameplay obviously differs alot with the Specialist abilities as well. If your a WW2 fan but didn't like the previous games you may not like this. You might like Blackout, though.

My main critiques of BO4 so far are the indestructible dogs, and infuriating thing on wheels that shocks you and the GUI is a tirefire.

The taunts and sprays are kind of a waste of time too. Not worth the change they made to scoresteaks to accomodate that stuff.

It isn't nearly as futuristic as AW, IW or BO3. AW and IW were my two most hated games in the series.

It is only futuristic in the sense of some of the specialist perks. Other than that, it is good old boots on the ground combat. Nothing flying through the air. No jumping around the map and wall running.

Even on hardcore those f***ing dogs are absolute bullet sponges and the thing on wheels is ridiculous - SO frustrating. The tough part is that they have made this game perfectly for people who love to sit in a corner for most of the game. Between the barbed wire and the specialist shield that can block an entire hallway, it is tough when someone is just murdering your squad from a window. The fact that grenades aren't standard equipment makes it even worse.

I am a big fan of this game and they did a lot of things right but the above chaps my ass more than anything.

The game is fantastic. Like you said I hated IW and AW, and this is nothing like them.

Is the only way to destroy barbed wire shooting with a launcher? Every time I see it I just turn and leave the area lol. Same with the dogs when I see one I just run like hell

The maps are all fantastic so far too. All of them are gorgeous. My favorite is Hacienda - just has fantastic flow.

You can destroy barbed wire after 60-70 bullets. Those dogs suck.

I really like Hacienda. Playing Jungle was an absolute nostalgia blast. Love every minute of it.

The ONLY issue i have with Nomad's dog is that you have do damn near unload a clip into it for it to die.

No probably not. This seems like a mix of black ops 2 and 3, and a little bit of MW3.

People need to use the engineer perk. It detects all equipment through walls (mines, seeker radars, the roaming shock thing, barbed wire, etc) and also killsreaks and things like the shield, dogs, etc. I never get killed by the dog anymore or the mines. Also being able to see things like razor wire or. Mines through walls, it gives you an idea of where the enemies are.

I've played a decent amount this week and I think I have noticed there are a ton of battles where you have no idea how you lost (in DM anyway). Not sure if it's the hit detection, lag comp, netcode in general etc but it seems to me it feels off.

Haven't been this addicted to a COD game since maybe the original Black Ops. Close to 2nd prestige already. I just wish they would add lobby leader boards.

@Smelling Salt Let me know if you want to play some core this week. I need to get used to it for when the leagues start and whatnot. Glad you were able to jump in for a few hardcore matches on Friday.

I would have played more but I got booted after one of the matches, then it kept erroring out trying to re-join you. I'll be on probably every night this week. 8-12pm CST.

As a lifelong CoD hater who casually enjoyed Black Ops 1 and Cod4 sometimes, Blops 4 is really, really fun.
