Treyarch usually never disappoints. I am going to buy this game unless there’s something big that changes the game and I’m unsure about it.
Treyarch COD's are the only ones I buy anymore but I wasn't crazy about III. It wasn't a massive disappointment but it just felt like it was lacking. Multiplayer didn't engage me as much as I and II and there was only one good Zombies map IMO that wasn't one of the remakes.

Apparently it is actually happening, but there's no multiplayer so it's basically nothing.

So.. I won't go TOO much into it, but I just never preferred most of their content. I am all for going against the trend but the way they...label things and write their articles are pretty poor (IMO of course)

EDIT: Of course as I type that, this "gem" was posted.

Mods, you can delete if this isnt allowed. I don't even want to derail this thread but YEA. Had to post that.

To each their own. I have a soft spot for the Kinja sites because Jalopnik is so good. Kotaku used to annoy the shit out of me and I agree the writers aren’t great but they have some really good sources (oh and some pretty horrible ones too), in addition to them not kowtowing to publisher or industry pressure. I do think they cater too much to the Reddit style gamer (who can get pretty racist and offensive) but I make a point to never read Kotaku comments.

I also think that tweet is hilarious lol. Stupid, but funny.

Might as well jump on the band wagon. It's also looking like it won't have a single player campaign. I don't play the campaigns as much as I used to, but I do like to watch the play throughs on youtube. And while I didn't particularly like the BO3 campaign, I do feel like it helps set up the multiplayer and get familiar with some of the guns.

Wow, Battle Royale for CoD?

I'm shocked, SHOCKED! ...Well, not that shocked.

I really enjoyed the campaign of BO1 but haven't played 2 or 3.

Not impressed by the reveal.

- Looks like Black Ops 2.5 so I don't understand the "forget everything you know" hype they had going on

- Don't think I care for the manual healing at all

- Don't like the 5 on 5 for online play. Treyarch can spread any kind of BS they want about gameplay being better but to me this means "small maps". I'm guessing this will get changed to 6 on 6 at some point

- Current build supposedly forces all players on a team to use a different Specialist

- The guns being used in the demo look like absolute melters with no recoil

- Doubt I will ever play Battle Royal

- Still love the Treyarch aesthetics

- Will still buy day one

I’m interested. I haven’t touched WW2 since I started playing Fortnite, so this game is gonna have to win me over.

I thought it was a little lame that they’re doing a BR, but featuring old maps is kinda cool.

One of the things I was worried about when we started hearing the rumors of a BR mode was that they’d start neglecting other parts of the game which it seems as though might be happening. There’s already no campaign and the multiplayer seems relatively unchanged (could just be their response to the complaints of COD trying to do too much with every new game).

Regardless, the main reason I play the Black Ops games is for zombies, and the maps, while different, look like they could be very good and interesting if they’re done right so I’m excited for this game nonetheless.

Few thoughts on the beta.

1) Its not black ops 3.5 like I feared, but it still doesn't feel a whole lot different in terms of the actual gameplay.
2) Not a fan of the manual healing
3) Not a fan of the 150 health
4) Definitely not a fan of the body armor
5) The mini map makes me ill
6) Maps are too small
7) The new specialists aren't all that interesting or game breaking.
8) Hate the idea of having the grenade unlocked at a later level.
9) The Lobby timer in between matches is WAY too long.

Overall I'm indifferent on it. I'd like to see bigger maps to get a better overall sense of the game.

I was actually pretty impressed by the beta...more than I thought I would be.

I agree with alot of your criticisms. Also:

1) Poor performance on non-Pro PS4...Gridlock especially runs like garbage
2) The GUI is horrendous
3) Some of the point streaks seem to require too many points (UAV 600 points?) but this may make more sense in the complete game
4) Launcher probably has too many rockets

I didn't mind the manual healing.

I also like how the guns have a 'heavy' feeling to them because of the deep sounding bullet hits.

I thought the map size was pretty good. Better than WWII at least.

I'm fine with the 150 health. It lent itself to some good gun battles...when the other player isn't using armour.

The amount of players who just keep running into the barbed wire is hilarious...that may correlate to the high point totals needed for scorestreaks lol.

Not sure how well Blackout is going to run if they are struggling currently with 6 on 6...

My buddy who had pre-ordered the game let me jump on his PSN account to try out the beta. Can't remember what level I got too, at least a few beyond whenever you unlock the ABR 223 (more on that later).

I actually liked it a lot more than I was expecting. COD still feels really slow for me after putting so much time into the TitanFall games, and the lack of verticality and vertical mobility from games like TitanFall or Destiny really feels limiting as far as approaches and evasion. On the other hand, the fact that every enemy is essentially stapled to the horizontal plane and moves pretty slowly, made leveling up really easy... and damn if there isn't still a potent dopamine hit every time you level up.

Quick thoughts:

+ I like the move to 150. Gunfights feel a bit more skillful, a bit less lucky. So even though the game is kind of slow and the lack of verticality hurts evasive options, the increased health still allows more skilled players to turn the tables on players who fire the first shot. Which is a good thing because...

- Treyarch still profoundly sucks at spawn AI. It is legitimately crazy how many times enemies will spawn like 10 feet behind you. The game actively punishes aggressive teams pushing forward on the map. It's nutty. You basically have to find the 'trigger point' on each map that will swap spawning locations, and keep at least half your team behind it if you want to maintain map control on a fixed side of the map. That's not a 'skill', that's just annoying.

- Treyarch is also still very, VERY into 3-lane map design, which is fine, but good lord it's repetitive. To be fair, this was a problem in TitanFall 2 as well, and fans were pretty vocal about it. Basically every map's character came down to setting/look, because the feel of every map, the strategy of every map, was essentially the same because of the almost identical layout. TitanFall 2 at least had a ton of verticality afforded by wall-running and what-not which helped a bit, but when you're stuck on the ground, damn... all the maps feel the same.

+ Killstreak rewards seem toned down, which is good. I've found that the players who want killstreaks to be more powerful are usually bad players who rely on the scripted AI bots to do most of the damage for them. Reward players with a powerful attack that can scoop them up a few bonus kills or give their team an advantage that helps them get more kills, no reason to basically do the work for them while they cackle in a corner.

- Not really a negative, but I'm personally not a fan of the operator 'hero character' system. It feels tacked on. Also, the recon ability is so clearly better than the rest, it's kind of silly.

+ I genuinely liked all the weapons I used in this game, across pretty much every weapon class, which is a first for a COD. Usually I key in on a weapon type that I like and just stick too it, but the upgrade paths for the weapons in this game had me using a ton of different ones.

- The ADR 223 is just silly. Now, I enjoy tearing people apart with it, don't get me wrong, but come on. This is a god gun. I assume they'll nerf it somewhat in the full game.

Overall though, I was actually kind of impressed. I'll wait for reviews and fan feedback before putting money down, but I'm way more likely to buy it after the beta than I was before playing it.

I jumped into the open PC beta this weekend and had a lot more fun than I was expecting....although, to be fair, my expectations were pretty low.

I also did a lot better than I expected considering the last CoD I played was...Ghosts, I think? I only played for a couple days before giving up because I thought it was crap.

I'm of two minds on the character system. Half of me is eye rolling because they are chasing a (slightly outdated) trend, and the other half enjoyed trying out the different abilities.

I played the PC beta as well. I thought it was fine, but nothing that really blew me away. Good game though. Don't know that I'll buy it at launch or at all honestly with BFV coming out(and "free" with Origin Premier) along with RDR2 and NHL 19(even though the game is garbage, my friends and I still play the hell out of it every year). If the BR mode is really good then I will buy it. I still play PUBG often and have for over a year with no signs of stopping. I love BR modes and I'm hoping both CoD and BFV create awesome BR experiences.

Beta was great. I haven't played much COD since Black Ops II which was my favourite ever, but this felt really good.

Honestly, this is the type of game I'd enjoy picking up once it hit sales....but CoD never seems to hit sales.

I dunno if I'd consider it a good purchase at full price, at least for me personally. I know I wouldn't get as much play out of it as others.
