The once-dwindling population of a beautiful, blue iridescent butterfly has seen a rebound thanks to the efforts of a Bay Area biologist who took his work home with him.

The rare California Pipevine Swallowtail, native to San Francisco, saw its numbers decline drastically, possibly from development and invasive plants affecting its food source.

Really though, turning your lawn/garden into a buttefly oasis seems such an easy thing, I'm surprised more people don't do it. For instance, all one needs to do is plant some milkweed in their garden, and the monarch butterflies will likely find it.
