I mean, he let in a really, really bad goal in Game 1.

I get your point, but he hasn't been great
That goal shouldn't have killed us in that game, but we have a team that has managed 2 goals in 120 mins of play. I don't care what goalie is in net, you aren't winning playoff games with an offensive output like that. Ned is the only reason we've had a chance in each game so far, because essentially half of TBs chances are very high danger spots.

Shitty for Ned that the day this gets announced he gets benched for Mrazek. It's not like Mrazek will help Carolina score 5v5... But I guess down 2, make the change for the sake of the change?

Dunno if I'd call it "benched". He's played a long stretch of consecutive games, and even more when you consider how much OT was involved. Given that the team needs a spark anyway, it's about the right time for Mrazek to have a start.

If the Canes lose out, I wouldn't be surprised if people take away the narrative that Ned was benched but that will be brutally unfair to him.

Totally fair given his workload that it may be useful to have a fresh tender in there and give Ned the extra rest, plus the idea of a spark makes sense. Benched didn't feel like the right word when I used it, but I failed to come up with something better.

I think this is a year that most people will agree on for the winner.

Robertson will make it close but it's unfortunate a 6 year pro will eek out the win.

It shouldn't be particularly close. 100 votes for each award this season, Kaprizov should probably have 98 or 99 of the 1st place votes (their's bound to be one or two that will hold Kaprizov's age against him).

I think we'll see a clear #1 and #2 in Kaprizov and Robertson coming in with almost all of the 1st and 2nd place votes respectively. 3rd -5th will get much closer.

I'm going to sound really ignorant here I supposed but can someone tell me about Robertson? Didn't really follow league wide hockey this year and who is this guy?

He’s a Mark Stone level offensive winger
Does not have Stones defensive game but he’s no slouch

Robertson wrecked without 1st unit PP time to... did not get much prime power play minutes at all.

Dudes a gem

Agree and nothing against Kaprizov but has played pro, not NHL, but more than anything Robertson has seen by far. More TOI, especially PP time, on a team letting him run more I’d say.

Kaprizov also didn’t play with guys like Pavelski, Hintz and Klingberg though I guess.

Except on the PP where 1/4 of his total points came from. Robertson had far better 5 on 5 stats that Kaprizov.
