I tried searching for his own thread but I think the transfer to a new server/host has gutted it.

I'm kind of wondering why no one seems to mention him when it comes to who to sit. Now that he's injured we can see if he shouldn't be part of a tradable asset if someone gets desperate. His 15 goals two years ago were on 80 shots on goal and he's never had a shooting percentage anywhere remote to that in any other year. He turns 30 this year, had a brutal year last year with 5 goals for $3.5 million, which seems a lot for a player who is basically just a penalty killing specialist now. Why play him at all over Chimera? Or Quine or Gionta for that matter? He's lost the edge as an agitator too.

I just think it's time to move on from him.

I'm not thrilled about the deal he's on, but if he can't be moved keeping him on the 4th line would be fine because Chimera and Kulemin will both be gone at the end of the year. Not ideal, but it can be worked around. I think having a more skilled 4th line makes more sense for this team.

He's got 4 more years left on that contract after this one. A buyout might have to happen.

The team is a bit softer than I prefer. +2 last season. He fills an important role on the fourth line and he plays with grit

I'm sorry but I think that's the old reputation he still is living off of. I saw very little of that last year without Martin and I don't see why that changes this year as he gets older. I just see an overpaid fourth liner that got lucky two years ago with his shooting percentage and is now a completely replaceable part.

Trade him next summer while he still has some value.

He doesn't have value at his cap hit.

Unless of course Chiarelli is hitting the peyote again, which in that case, we may be able to get Puljujarvi for him.

But seriously, there isn't much of a difference production wise between Adam Crackell and Cal Clutterbuck, and Cracknell makes p>

The Clutterbuck contract is sooooooooooooo bad I wish Snow never did that deal.

Oh, I'd be fine paying someone to take him. I think it'd be less of a payment now than it will be in 2 years.

He was #17 in hits last season ( #4 the year prior) averaging less than one hit per game less. Who else is going to hit someone on this team?

https://www.sportingcharts.com/nhl/stats/team-hit-statistics/2016/

According to this we were third in the league in hits last year last year. Nashville was 21st and went to the finals. No correlation between hits and wins. San Jose, Chicago and Minnesota were in the bottom 4 . . . hardly a ringing endorsement of the importance of the statistic.

If Clutterbuck walked he would have returned to Minnesota
2 years 2 mill per. That combined with Nino's fresh new deal
Would have really melted Garths Snowballs.....
All just a guess.

Clutter is a far cry from the player he was when he arrived in new
York. That's easy to see . Certainly tradeable if we want Brown from the Kings

Hopefully he really was just hurt last year because he was bad.

According to DP, his contract had a little bit to do with JT. He is his best friend on the team apparently and they traded away his 2 others over the years (KO AND MM). But the money...

And exactly why JT could end up in Buffalo for many reasons, his dad is a lacrosse legend there, his GF is in Toronto and he has buddies on the team.

Clutter is an agitator that does not fight, it kind of fails on a lot of levels, but he is ahead of Kulemin on the depth chart

LOL yes uncle... can't see the details of your avatar that good, who is in that?

I'm the one on the right and the one in the middle is my broadcast partner Wells Dusenbury who now writes for the Sun-Sentinel and we are interviewing Jack Nicklaus at halftime of our Saint Andrews-Benjamin lacrosse broadcast three years ago. EIGHT of the Nicklaus grandkids play(ed) lacrosse. 7 at Benjamin and Nick O'Leary also played (an All-American high school player too!) but at Dwyer across the street, due to the football program there.

The new improved Cal is looking great! All the sudden he's a scoring threat and an offensive weapon! Giddy up!

He has played better hockey lately. He is bouncing back! However, I still don’t understand why he is playing PP.

We have a pretty bruising team and Shuttlebucks a big part of it. His offense is great of course, but our fourth line plus Mayfield and Ross is imo giving the Islanders their personality. The big strong teams are the ones that beat up the other teams and make it far into the playoffs. We should have never messed with the best 4th line in hockey.
