Might want to re-read what I wrote there bud.
I get what you said, but I’m not sure that it adds anything to the conversation. Dach had a better draft season than Beckman. Correct. Beckman’s d+1 has been way better than Dach’s draft season. Dach plays in the NHL now. Is Beckman an NHL player next year? No. Is he too good for the WHL? No, but next year he likely will be. I wish there was a better path for his development.

He's having an incredible season. If he was drafted by a team with a bigger presence he would be getting the same treatment that Nick Robertson is. Beckman is carrying his team offensively this season and there is relatively little chatter about it. He has had a point on 43% of Spokane's goals this season and he's just been on fire since the end of January with 14 points in 8 games. I'm curious to see where he develops from here as there are so few players that have his level of production growth from one season to the next.

I've seen him interviewed where he said he has experience playing center and would welcome a move from LW to C. I wonder if we might see him make that switch next year in Spokane?

That would be great. He won't have a lot to prove next year at the WHL level, might as well see if he can handle the C position, which the Wild so desperately need players for.

Jack Finley and Bear Hughes are usually listed as the top 6 centres. But Zummack also takes a lot of draws for the team. So if Zummack ages out I could see Beckman getting some draws and time up the middle.

However Beckman - Finley - Larson has been a good line for them since put together and I’m pretty sure they’ll all be back next year. All depends on what Coach Manny wants to do with his lineup but the switch to C may have to wait til he turns pro.

Might be the only player this season in the WHL who gets 100 points.
- only 3 other players have a somewhat serious shot to get to 100,
but they need 18, 19, 19 points, respectively, Cozen, who is 5th, needs almost 30.

Assuming that he returns to the WHL next season, I would love to see him tried at center.

Feels like WHL is been there done that situation for him after this season thou.
+ Its not like Minny have a quality forward core, center or wing

Have a good summer; get stronger physically, work on weaknesses
have good camps, take a spot from the Wild top 6.

With Kaprizov coming in next season, there would be no room for Beckman in the top 6 forward group. The biggest organizational needs are center and goaltending.

No need to rush Beckman into the NHL. Best move would be for him to continue his development in Spokane and ideally learn the center position.

I've seen too many teams rush a player prematurely into the NHL because of a single dominant season of Junior or because they want to fill a need.

PLaying Beckman in the NHL next season (he is not eligible for the AHL ) would be a recipe for disaster. He needs to get stronger and better overall in a lesser league. If he can also play some C there, great. Better he experiments there than in the NHL, though i don't know if his junior team would be on board with it.

Rushing players into the NHL before they are ready is a surefire way to ruin them, Very, very few 3rd rounders are ready in their D+2 years right out of training camp.

He's opened up an almost insurmountable lead in the WHL scoring race.

I guarentee there wasnt 1 person that predicted before the season started that Beckman would hit the 100 point mark and win the scoring title.

There is a difference between real good junior players and real good NHL prospect junior players...but in my opinion he is both.. hes the best WHL player this season and also the best NHL prospect in the league

That's quite a statement. Hope you're right, as a Wild fan, but do you think he has more upside than, say, Cozens?

I don’t think I’m too biased, and I would say yes. Beckman’s development curve is pointed straight up, and as I’ve said throughout this thread, he still has a ton of room to grow physically and advance his tools.

The way Cozens engages with the play still makes him the “safer” prospect. There’s very little doubt in my mind that he will at least be an average 2C, and I’m not certain I would choose Beckman over him. There’s a measure of high-end potential there as well. But I do believe that Beckman has a higher ceiling.

I was a big Krebs fan before the draft. I would still trade him for Beckman in a flash, but that's partly because MN really needs C's...LW's not so much. Sounds like Beckman is a late bloomer physically, and a testament to not rushing a prospect.

Wild fans seem to regard Khovanov as the better prospect. I wonder if they still will at this time next year?

He was fairly young for his draft year as a May born kid. Possible there is even more progression going forward?
