Hello! I am buying a pair of skates tomorrow. I don't play hockey, only normal skating and shinny. I've been using borrowed recreational skates and they were good. I just wanted to know, is it worth it to get hockey skates? Or should I get a rec pair?

Thanks for your input, I greatly appreciate it :)

Not a bad time to buy skates. Older stock tends to go on clearance this time of year, so there are good values out there as long as they fit you well.

Hockey skates will give you more support. Check out the Skate thread up top for more info and you can post any questions there.

Ended up getting an awesome rec pair for 30$! Tried em out today, great buy :)

I don't plan on playing hockey, I'm just learning how to skate better now  thanks boys!

$30 for some adult skates sounds pretty good, and you won't feel too bad going out and buying some hockey skates if you want to pick hockey up afterwards, since 30 is a pretty small investment. Good call!

Spend a little more and get them sharpened by someone that knows how to do it and you'll really enjoy the skates then.
