My true thoughts on the Sens kicking tires on Jesse P...it is absolutely the type of thing that an organization like the Sens - shoestring budget, disinterested fanbase - should be doing. I kept my remarks in the other thread to what I think should be the max offer (Dallas 2nd), but the reality is that this organization won't so much as give the idea a sniff - regardless of his play he'll be looking for some guaranteed money and we all know that won't happen.

Simple truth is that the Sens had a ****ing glorious opportunity to weaponize their cap space but instead of firing rockets they're busy playing with fire crackers. I guess at this point I should be happy that there hasn't been an Eric O'Dell-like presser.

I think the ultimate thing that pisses a lot of fans off, myself included, is the great team we pissed away for no reason whatsoever. We had Stone and Karlsson; two foundation/franchise level players and we didn't do anything with them (spending or acquiring through trade).

For the last 10 seasons we had many players who could have solidified our roster and were always not the right fit. This team has always needed a new set of eyes from ownership down to change the status quo. Its about keeping money in the pocket than keeping people on the seats. Melnyk makes good money off of the Building, concerts, and the team. That is why he will never sell and everything will run as it has been.

Agreed. Variable do you think you could remove that article from the list? I think if we want proper conversation, all the sources should be credible or at least serious.

We made them ‘fair’ offers, isn’t that enough. Like I was at a garage sale and the man there wanted $1 for NYC playing cards, I offered him 25cents, we couldn’t come to an agreement but I was fair and that’s all that counted.

We need to put the nonsense behind us, move on, and stop focusing on the negative. Constantly dwelling on the past wont help anyone.

It's not really the past when the same people involved in turning the franchise into a joke are still running it.

I am genuinely curious on how long Melnyk will own this team for. Like 3 years, or 20 more? I honestly have no clue.

I just don't see how he can run a team like he is right now and have it last very long. We shall see I suppose.

Yeah I agree, I dont really call any of this the past at all if it is still the current leadership.

Plus, I dont see why it is bad to look at the past to begin with. How are we suppose to notice trends if we don't look at the past? That is usually how I form most of my opinions, by trends.

Years ago there were a lot of people worried about re-signing players, like Ryan, and my stance always was well we never had problems re-signing our own guys before, so I am not worried and until something starts happening you shouldn't be worried. I based this on past trends with our franchise.

Now it has flipped, if people are worried about lets say, Chabot re-signing, I understand why they are worried, based on past trends this seems entirely possible.

So like, the past is kinda important, to me anyway.

I gotta say (and I hope @Variable26 doesn't take offense), the fact that a beaverton article was confused with something that actually happened is indicative of the state of our ownership. It's also perfectly executed satire, kudos to The Beaverton. It's hilarious both ways.

I don't know why but that fact you were so specific about the type of playing cards is hilarious to me.

Is it the Statue of Liberty on there? Freedom Towers? Empire State Building? A collage of all of them? Is there some specific NYC game that you can only play with NYC playing cards?

    So many questions...

Also the current management from ownership on down is a joke right now and I think it is quite obvious. We won't know how good Dorion and his team can be unless they get the opportunity to stay on board when a new owner purchases the team.

The fact he has these financial constraints on any of his moves AND that he doesn't have the support he should have from a workload standpoint doesn't give us a true picture of his abilities.

Do you think he's running the franchise, the way he is, on purpose, or because of market conditions? Do you think he has a choice, and chooses to run it this way?

I think his personal finances have taken a major hit, but still wants to own an NHL franchise, and that is why we are where we are.

And that is just a complete guess on my part that I am basing on his multiple divorces and the problems with his previous companies.

If you have a restaurant and the owner walks to the buffet line during the dinner rush and takes a massive dump by the prime rib and no one cleans it up, is it the customers fault for not coming back or is the owners fault for crapping where his customers are supposed to eat? Even if it’s the only prime rib place in town, still not a good idea to expect people’s love of slow roasted meats to overcome their desire to just eat in a clean and considerate restaurant.

I guess you could blame the customers because a prime rib buffet is a prime rib buffet, but they just might stay home and order pizza instead, or even go out for Pho, some may even order chinesse.
