I think it's about 50/50 whether Drouin gets another crack at center. If not it'll be Plekanec, but if so, he'd be the first line guy for sure.

Plekanec is not a part of the team's long-term plans, but the advantage of using him is that it insulates the other players.

Put Plekanec on a 1st line with, say, Drouin, and Gallagher, and he might once again have trade value at the deadline.

But imagine the criticism Julien would face if he was doing that. I doubt that any coach would want to tank on purpose.

Julien is not God. There is nothing that he can do. This team will almost certainly finish out of the playoffs.

Hopefully Poehling and Kotkaniemi are ready for next season, because ya, it's not looking good down the middle for the big club at the moment....

Hopefully, they stay where they are in 2019, and they hit the AHL under Bouchard in 2020.

Prospects should be allowed to develop slowly, and to dominate.

Recall: PK Subban stayed in the OHL for two years after being drafted, and then played in the AHL for nearly a full season.

Going from the CHL to the NHL is tough- few guys don't need at least a season in the AHL to adjust. But Poehling is coming from the NCAA and Kotkaniemi from Liiga and both players will have multiple season playing against men under their belt.

If Kot is not ready to at least play a role on a losing team by 2019-2020 it will be very worrying.

It's depressing that none of the players listed is a top 6 center. DD was a better offensive center than any of the guys listed.

Most likely Drouin, but the following years we don't even know who our centers will be. Kotkaniemi, Poehling and others might not be ready for a 18+ minutes a night until 2021-2022.
