I want Mete-Juulsen in our lineup and start in MTL but part of me think it could be massive for their development to have an extra year of development in Laval.

Mete/Juulsen could groom their offensive game in the minor. Bouchard could really help them mature their game.

The Benn, Alzner, Schlemko were underwhelming last year but i can’t believe they will not be better this year. Also we have Reilly,Ouellete,Valiev Lernout, the 2 czech. Lots of options.

Its not impossible to see Mete-Juulsen both start in Laval.

If its the case maybe this lineup ( i know its bad)

Alzner-Petry
Reilly-Benn
Ouellete-Schlemko
Valiev

when Weber is back we trade Benn for a late 2020 pick.

I am not the one who want us to tank. But bergevin told us we were in a snooze period waiting for Peohling / Kotka.

The plan should be focus on players development, bring good attitude, fight every game, see some improvement and maybe have another great draft and be ready to return in win mode in 2019-2020.

Liked what I saw of Lernout late last season .

Doesn't he have to clear waivers now ?

With Weber`s injury could see him making the opening roster .

I kinda want Mete-Juulsen to play together in Laval and really try and elevate their offence, but I guess they are destined for the big club.

With Weber out I think that the coaching staff will split up the two vets, needed to lead, Petry and Alzner

Mete with Petry
Alzner with Juulsen, which finished as a 20 minute per game pairing.

Reilly competes with Mete.

Benn is probably the front runner for 3rd pairing. Though Mete-Schlemko got some time together last year, if Reilly is paired with Petry.

Schlemko/Benn are #7. Ouellet probably gets 8. I can't place Valiev as I have not seen him play.

Lernout I think competes with Juulsen for one spot.

With Agostino, Froese, Rychel, Grenier, Taormina and likely Depres as AHL vets, another vet is just overkill.

Someone is going to get traded out of camp, unless Depres is cut.

Czechs will get development time.

But if you look at it, best case scenario is

1. Petry
2. Juulsen
3. Mete
4. Alzner
5-8 interchangeable

Could be scary. Though I think Richardson will make a difference.

what i would like to see in 2018-2019

First i trade (exemple) Patch (signed) + Paul byron + Jordie Been for a decent center ( Trocheck or Anisimov)

Max Domi - Vincemt Trocheck - Jonathan Drouin
Artturi Lehkonen- Phillip Danault- Brendan Gallagher
Charles Hudon - Tomas Plekanec - Andrew Shaw
Nicolas Desauniers - Jacob de la rose - Joel Armia

Victor Mete - Shea Weber
Mike Reilly - Jeff Petry
Karl Alzner - Noah Juuslen

Victor Mete - Shea Weber (Jordie Benn)
Mike Reilly - Jeff Petry
Karl Alzner - Noah Juulsen

Surprisingly, I agree with how the pairings played out.

What I do not want to see is Petry with Alzner or even Mete in a #1D role to start the season. Let's see what Reilly - Petry can do in a more transition/offensive role; the role they would actually be playing in a few years if we were to hypothetically be competeitive again.

Same for Mete. We need to see if he has the capacity to play top pairing shutdown minutes next to Weber. So I'd rather see him get tough matchups right off the bat without Weber to shelter him for the first 3 months. Even if that means he's in over his head. So long as the expectations are kept low and he's given a good amount of leeway to make mistakes and learn, I believe you have a better shot at developing him into a player that can eventually play those minutes by learning to play against the other teams' best than by sheltering him.

Alzner - Juulsen will get a ton of D-zone starts vs. 2nd-4th lines.

I would split the lines by nationalities ...

Drouin, Daneaut, Hudon
Pacioretty, Domi, Gallagher
Sherbak, DelaRose, Arnia
Lekohnen, Plekanek, Byron
Deslaurier, McCaron, Shaw

Mete - Weber
Despres - Petry
Reiley - Julsen
