Instead of building from scratch, I will start with the Chicago Blackhawks.

    Trade #1:
    Toews (50% retained)
    Keith (50% retained)
    Pat Kane (50% retained)
    for
    Pronger
    MacDonald
    Umberger
    Lecavalier

    Trade #2:
    Corey Crawford (50% retained)
    for
    Cam Ward

    Trade #3:
    Marian Hossa (50% retained)
    for
    Brooks Orpik

    Trade #4:
    Seabrook (50% retained)
    for
    Nikitin

    Trade #5:
    Pat Sharp (50% retained)
    for
    Clarkson

That's about 64 million for 8 players (2 of which are injured). I then do not have enough money to sign/keep another 11 players (league minimum salary is 0.550) therefore I must forfeit every game until I am CAP compliant.

    Guaranteed 0-82-0

    Beat that!

Weiss has been over a point per game this season. Not sure why he's on these lists.

Brooks Orpik is only over paid by about 1 million, there are far better options available.

the issue with Opriks contract is the term, not the cap.

The 2 who are injured are on LITR so there cap hit is not all that relevant.

Pretty complete player - 30 goal scorer last season. Plenty of player that would be better fit in there.

Tanner Glass should be on every one of these teams.

League wouldn't allow it since you can only retain so many salaries at once. I believe it is 2 but would want someone to confirm that.

Winner for me. Just because it includes Tanner Glass, he absolutely needs to be there. Anyways, it´s basically any decent combination of Flyers, Oilers & Tanner Glass.

I think I've got a roster that could lose 3/4 of the games it played, at least:

    R.J. Umberger ($4.600m) / Vincent Lecavalier ($4.500m) / Dustin Brown ($5.875m)
    Rene Bourque ($3.333m) / Shawn Horcoff ($5.500m) / David Clarkson ($5.250m)
    Tanner Glass ($1.450m) / Dave Bolland ($5.500m) / Chris Stewart ($4.150m)
    John Scott ($0.700m) / Ben Street ($0.650m) / Brian McGrattan ($0.750m)
    DEFENSEMEN
    Deryk Engelland ($2.917m) / Brad Stuart ($3.600m)
    Brooks Orpik ($5.500m) / Bryce Salvador ($3.167m)
    Rob Scuderi ($3.375m) / Ladislav Smid ($3.500m)
    GOALTENDERS
    Ondrej Pavelec ($3.900m)
    Curtis McElhinney ($0.650m)

Any team without Meszaros is incomplete. Dude is making 4m and doesn't even look like he belongs in the NHL.

Believe me, Desharnais is ****ing awul but for 3.5m you're getting 50-60 points which is great value. The reason the habs fanbase complains about him so much is because he's being played as a top line center, if he was a 2nd liner (sans Pacioretty) then I'm sure the number of complaints would go down.

All that to say, DD @ 3.5m (as bad as he is) is the highest point getter on both those rosters.

Not enough Oilers on these rosters.

Do you guys even realise the Oilers are a near-cap team?

    This.

Flyers, Oilers, and Glass. All you need to know. Tanner Glass could have a cap hit of 0 and still deserve to be on these lists.
