Let's build together the Habs 2013-14 starting line-up. This would be an "injury free" line-up, so let's do as if Gionta and Emelin were ready to start on day one.

Try to build lines that work, instead of just voting for the best player for each position.

Between (brackets) is the normal position for this player. You can always vote to put a player in another position.

Time to pick the left winger on the Plekanec's line!

FORWARDS

???? - Plekanec - ????
???? - Eller - ????
???? - Desharnais - ????
???? - White - ????

GOALERS

2nd call-up (offense) : ????
3rd call-up (offense) : ????
1st call-up (defense) : ????
2nd call-up (defense) : ????
1st call-up (goaler) : ????

i think its time for plekanec to play a bit more offensively and play with pacioretty. i think eller (if he comes back and hes as good as he was) is at the level where he can take some bigger responsibilities on defense. pleks could be a 70 pt player

Instead of making a bunch of threads on who's going to play which part... here's a most LIKELY scenario (not what YOU prefer, but what's most likely to happen):

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Briere
Galchenyuk - Eller - Gallagher
Bourque - Desharnais - Gionta
Prust - White - Parros

Subban - Gorges
Markov - Emelin
Bouillon - Diaz
Tinordi

I'd swap Briere and Gallagher, and then be happy with that top 9

Galchenyuk, he can't center a bottom line so use him where it matters.
I'd prefer Galchenyuk to center our 2nd.. our only problem is too many centers fighting for the top 3 spot.

We seriously need to trade away one of Eller or Desharnais, otherwise we're going to be in serious roster inefficiency for another year.

Briere's got more experience to be a top line winger, and he'll improve this year from his washed-up years in Philly. He's also very likely to play on the top line in playoffs (since that's what we hired him for) so its better for him to get used to his spot and linemates.

I hope him and Eller stays together.

Sure that makes sense too. The problem is if you're playing Bourque with Pleks, that means Pacioretty is on the third line with DD, which is fine but a bit awkward.

We could have proposed moving Eller to the right wing (because left wing doesn't seem to suit him very much. Pacioretty - DD - Eller for instance. That leaves 3rd center to Galch. Anyway might be too crazy ;)

Nope, not when we have excess RWers (Gionta, Briere, Gallagher, Parros, McCarron, Collberg, etc)

after this year we will also have excess LWers too and Galch will have to move to center.

Eller is going nowhere man...forget it. Desharnais is the one who needs to be traded ASAP.

The Habs are always rewarded when they give Pleks a good scoring winger.
I want to see what he can do with Patches and what Patches can do with Plek!
make it happen MT.

As for DD, its time he hops off Patches back. Give him a big winger in Bourque and he'll be fine...

DD will do great with Bourque and Gionta on his wings. People should stop the hate on him.. he was the team's favourite winger in 2012 when he played on the top line with Patches and Cole (good ol days).

I personally think DD can get more points than Eller but thats just me. Eller is bigger but he doesn't utilize his size that much so its not that big of a deal. DD is fast and is a shootout specialist.

I don't think any coach would saddle Plekanec in his role with Briere's defensive ineptitude. The kind of roles those two play just won't mesh.

He was never the team's favorite winger(???) or center.

And what are these good ol' days you speak of? ah yes finishing 15th in the East, those good ol' days

The hate on him has a reason, which we will not get into on this thread. Its up to him to redeem himself this season, no matter who he has on his wings.

Our excess of Right Wingers is more manageable (in the sense of getting rid of) than our excess in Left Wingers.

DD got every opportunity to rack up the points on a 15th place team, he benefited from having the team's best and biggest wingers on his line as well as sheltered minutes and PP time. I see you have a hard time analyzing a player's game, Eller lead our forwards in hits as well as being a monster on the forecheck. I would say he's also our best forward at protecting the puck, if that's not using his size I don't know what is.

That line up is perfect except for Diaz, just don't like him at all. He's weak and has no Jam to his game. Can't wait for Beaulieu to put it together and get called up!!

"Perfect" isn't exactly the word I had in mind..

Atleast Diaz can really help the PP a lot. Boullion is just.. :shakehead

I meant the way he organized them, if it were up to me, Briere, Gionta, Desharnais and Diaz are gone, but that's not the case this year. In the future I'd like to see in 4yrs

Pacioretty- Galchenyuk-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Eller-McCarron
De La Rose-Plekanec-Collberg
Crisp-White-Prust

Tinordi-Subban
Beaulieu-Dietz
Emelin-Thrower

Price
Fucale

Obviously everything and everyone would have to develop and fall into place, but heh, it's pure fantasy, it's just the way I'd like to see it one day

Pacioretty - Pleckanec - Gionta : Good defensive line can be used against any first line in the league and still provide offensive input, can be used in any situation.

Galchenyuk - Eller - Gallagher : Hungry young line that will provide high offensive output and can be somewhat responsible defensively. Can play against 2nd or third lines.

Bourque - Desharnais - Briere : Put our two biggest defensive liability on the ice at the same time so you can shelter them with offensive zone starts and favorable match-ups. Can provide high offensive output.

Prust - White - Moen - Parros : Nough said...

Georges - Subban

Markov - Bouillon(Emelin)

Tinordi - Diaz
