That is still complicated because he has to agree to bring expised. The 12 or do teams he lists aren’t going to be interested givrn the cap tight world.
Nah. Not a big hurdle. Avs could also take back salary or retain. They are not up against the cap so one of those teams like Tampa that lacks options.. He’s still a top 4 guy that logs 20 minutes a game and plays PK 1. He’d only have two years on that deal too so not some long term commitment either. They’d be able to trade that. Don’t think the Avs would be get any sort of value but EJ is movable.

Maybe something around Will Butcher (25 years old, 2 years left @ $3.733m) for either Montour (26 years old, 1 year left @ 3.85m) or Miller (27 years old, 2 years left @ 3.875m)?

Cap hits are practically a wash and Butcher is kind of expendable with the additions of Murray & Kulikov plus Smith challenging for a regular role at the NHL level.

He doesn’t have a 12 team list. His is 20. Lots of options with 20 possible trade partners. Someone will want him. Even if the Avs have to take back salary. It’s really not that complicated. The Rangers got rid of Staal without even retaining and EJ is still a superior player to that guy. and given the Avs can take back a player and/or retain, it opens up a lot of trades.

But he’ll waive. Because it’s better than forcing yourself off the roster via trade.

Buffalo needs an upgrade on the Left side, We have an overabundance on the right side. Is there a a good hockey trade out there to help out both teams?

Ristolainen
Jokiharju
Montour
C. Miller

Ideally, one of these four can get swapped with a similar LD / similar cap hit
Juolevi and Gaudette for Jokiharju?

Remove Jokiharju from this essentially.

We have one long term LD (Dahlin) and one long term RD (Jokiharju).

No reason to trade a good young player to fix handedness for one season. (Plus you will get lowball offers like the ones seen so far)

I think Montour is the most realistic one to go.

Same. Jokiharju shouldn't be on the table. Risto, I'd move for the right trade, but that sure ain't worth talking about on HF. Miller would probably be tough to move since he had kind of a rough year adjusting to Kreuger's system/bouncing around the line-up, and his contract has some term on it. Montour with 1 year left seems like the obvious candidate to go.

NTC means he has to ok being traded. If the Avs wanna expose him in the draft, he has no say at all. Only NMC has to waive their protection.
Erik Johnson has Both a M-NTC (19 team trade list) & a NMC. Colorado has to either trade him to a team on his list or he has to Waive his NMC to be exposed in the expansion draft. If Nothing changes, Colorado has to Protect him.

Don’t see us trading Gaudette or Juolevi for Miller when we could sign Vatanen.

Rather have cost controlled spare parts than an overpaid spare part...

I'd rather have a cost controlled actual asset than Vancouver's spare parts.
Joker for some junk you won't miss is a swing and a miss.

We already established that Buffao wouldn’t make that trade. But atleast I didn’t offer a negative value contract.

Junk... If Gaudette who was on pace for 40 points is junk then every forward on the Sabres except like 4 guys is junk
