Anyone know when we're going to wear the reverse retro uni's? Someone said today but I can't find anything about it, we should have worn them already but we missed that game.

They would have worn the retro stuff during morning skate, they aren't wearing it tonight.

I would do sometihng like this:

PP1 . Hischier

Palmieri Johnson Hughes

Smith

pp2 . Wood

Gusev Bratt Zacha

Severson/Subban

I'd go:

PP1:
Zajac
Palmieri Johansson Hughes
Smith

PP2:
Wood
Subban Hischier Zacha
Severson

Zajac/Wood as net front and dig pucks from the boards behind the net
Palmieri/Subban on the left shooting position
Johansson/Hischier in the bumper
Hughes/Zacha distributing from the wing
Smith/Severson quaterbacking

Id consider switching Hischier and Johansson, but Hischier needs to center PP2.

Bratt not being on either powerplay unit is pretty atrocious. Easily one of the best zone entry players and puck distributors on the team, and he has a sneaky good shot.
I could see him as PP1 bumper.

The position needs to be sneaky, get lost in coverage, and have quick hands to handle rebounds and quick one-time snapshots when fed the puck.

Having Palms in the bumper like we had a few games is the absolute worst place for him. His weapon is his slapshot, not his quick hands in tight.

I agree but we need someone to take the puck into the Offensive Zone instead of just getting it taken away the moment the player reaches the opponent's blue-line.

Bratt can do that and thus has to be on at least one of the PP Units.

If NJ has a skills coach they should force Zacha to stay after practice and just shoot buckets of pucks from all over the offensive zone. Just drill him to shoot. He'll get opportunities playing with Nico and Bratt. Shoot Pavel, shoot the puck. Early and often. Don't hesitate. Don't think about it. Don't pass it back if you are below the top of circles and more than 10 feet from the wall. Just shoot it. Once you get comfortable with that the team can work on reintroducing passing into your game from that area. For now, just shoot it.

Zajac/Zacha and Nico/Bratt for top two PK forward lines is all I want. There is only so much they can do with the D.

This date was originally supposed to be a retro jersey game but that all got moved around cause of the covid break.

All but the Caps game were moved around. If they are sticking with the original schedule on the new dates the retro games should now be...

3/2 - NYI at 7pm

3/6 - NYR at 1pm

3/18 - PIT at 7pm

4/2 - WASH at 7pm

4/9 - PIT at 7pm

Put Johnsson-Hughes-Bratt with the Smith-Severson pairing on the PP and let them do whatever they want. They've made 5v5 look like a powerplay and our PP coaching is worthless. Let those 5 guys run around and try what they want
