how crazy would it be to trade back and then take hockenson? it sounds like he is a plus plus blocker in addition to being a good receiver. seems like an opportunity to help OL play and get the QB a reliable target all at once. is that crazy? am i overvaluing his blocking contributions?

I have never been more in love with a TE prospect than I am with Hock. That being said, I just read a mock where he went at #7 to Jax, and honestly that wouldn't surprise me one bit. Once people really dig into his tape he will get touted as a generational prospect.

IIRC, Gronk dropped because of concerns over his knee / surgery.

It's the opposite with me, with the evolution of high volume passing attacks I think the volume of capable WRs each year exceeds the demand. Good technique and nuanced route running are nearly impossible to evaluate with many of these guys, so that's why you're as likely to hit on a Michael Thomas or Smith-Schuster in the 2nd or 3rd round as you are in the 1st. In fact, since the 2014 draft, mid round WRs have significantly outplayed their 1st round counterparts.

I won't be upset if we draft WR in the 1st round, because it is a position of obvious need, but that's not how I would utilize my resources.

This pick has to be all about helping Josh Allen, whether that’s finding him a stud blocker or a premier playmaker. In this scenario, the latter gives Buffalo the better value. Metcalf has an ideal size/athleticism combo, and is reportedly fully recovered from a neck injury that ended his 2018 campaign prematurely.

I also agree with this. I did a review of drafted WRs for Buffalo Rumblings a few years back. Teams are hitting on WRs in the back half of the first round as much as they are in the first half, and the impacts were the same (eg: teams were getting game breakers in the back half of the first round). 2nd round was not far behind.

Is that true? While I'm sure there's some names in the mid rounds that jump out, there's also likely some extreme duds. I'd be highly surprised if the numbers didn't bear out what's true at most positions: the higher you are drafted the higher your chance of being a competent NFL starter.

The NFL Scouting Combine (March 1-4 on NFL Network) in Indianapolis will give us our only chance to see almost all of those prospects in the same place at the same time, and the list of 300-plus players invited to this year's event was released on Thursday. Which player will generate the most buzz in Indy? I reached out to five NFL personnel executives to get their thoughts. Here are their answers:

With the Super Bowl in the rear-view mirror, and draft season officially here, it's time to introduce my current Top 100 prospects for the 2019 NFL Draft.

This is a defensive-centric class loaded up front that features more question marks than presumed sure things at the quarterback position. The receiver group is stacked, and there are plenty of superb offensive linemen.

Back to the quarterbacks. While Drew Lock and especially Dwayne Haskins will get their due over the next few months, reigning Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray takes the cake as the most polarizing, discussion-worthy prospect at the position.
