That's because he didn't really establish himself in the AHL? He had opportunities to impress in every game suited up with the Amerks or with Sabres, in the regular and pre-season, and he did not.

I am not sure why people think every prospect deserves a long look in the NHL.
Thompson and Mittelstadt has hardly been deserving compared to other players and what good does Elie do on the roster?
Fasching, Bailey, Baptiste weren’t exactly A prospects but this organization has completely failed to develop players for years. It’s insane considering the resources the club has.

How is that? They don't play anywhere near the same game.
Who suggested they did? He's a right wing and the Flyers might be getting rid of Simmonds, Raffl, and Weise. Is that not an opportunity for someone to play RW?

He was part of the Winterhawks a few years ago when guys like Petan, De Leo, Jones, Leipsic etc. were all there. He might have been on the WJC team for Canada too, can't remember though.

That's what I'm more familiar with the name from. They faced the Moose in the Mem Cup in Jones/MacK/Drouin's draft year

Leier is a nothing at the NHL level. He can skate fast, but really can't do anything else (Eric Wellwood v2.0). He's fine as a 13th forward, but if he's a regular, you will be disappointed
We don’t want him in the NHL.
He is going to fill a LW need in the AHL when either Nyalnder or Olofsson are called up. But we appreciate the concern!
