Hardly surprising. Teams can wait. No need to have them on the roster before March.

this is free agency now, folks. teams can't spend money in the draft. they can't spend money internationally and are soft capped to spending on free agents and their own players. anyone who told you that the leftovers would go to the players in free agency was fooling themselves. they're lining billionaires' pockets while hot take artists argue that players shouldn't get any money.

I'm going to laugh so hard if all of this hold up for Harper was some ingenious marketing scheme to somehow get him even more money out of a studio for a co-announcement or something.

More than likely they're just riding the hype train though and fooling people.

Philly sports was in an awful place a few years ago with the Phillies, Eagles (under Kelly), Sixers (in the rebuild) and Flyers being awful. At one point they were all last place in their respective divisions. It was a tough time.

@Halladay now with the Eagles winning the SB and pretty much being consistent with a good young QB and strong TE, and the Sixers being consistently good now with Embiid , the Phillies could potentially join that mix. The sports world used to mock Philly. If this signing happens and the Phillies make the playoffs regularly, Philly as a sports city will be a force to be reckoned with again.

To be fair it's not on mine, but only because reputable journalists are on mine. Rosenthal, Passan, Heyman have been silent on this issue.

@HFBCommenter Id be excited towards this. He is a great player but this team still would be flawed. They cant field, though replacing him in the outfield is a massive upgrade, even if he is a below average fielder. Maybe a wild card team if they do in fact sign him.
