Interesting thought... Fills two needs.
Edit: 1.25 needs anyway...
We get these two under contract for next year as well. Then we get Zuccarello from the Rangers and we're on our way. (Everyone can thank me for this at a later date)

Bottom line in

- Bruins need scoring. A Michael Grabner at peak for example would be cheap enough but help the with the deficiency
- OR someone who elevates their play/playoff machine like Staal or Pageau

Whenever I see Jeff Skinner score, I want to puke

definitely someone Sweeney could have obtained

I don't think it was about the physicality and intensity. IMO, he started to slump in March and just never got his game back. That slump continued right up until Cassidy finally scratched him a couple weeks ago. That benching got his attention and got him playing desperate again. He really needs to keep that needle flatlined because he's not fast enough to play at 80 or even 90%.
What really got his attention was getting to play with Bergy and Marchy, that would get anyone’s attention. People are judging him way to early, he is still young and very raw, couple of years and we will be thankful he is still a Bruin. Same goes for a lot of the younger players, because they are not stars right away is no reason to toss them in the junk heap.

I'll disagree with you on Frederic. There's nothing I've seen that's remotely close to showing me he's ready to center a line in the playoffs.

As for Staal, if we are going the rental route, I'd prefer it would be for a rental that we'd actually have some desire to try to re-sign over the summer. He's the same age as Backes.
That was kind of why I liked Granlund instead. Has a year left and is going to be playing for the big payday.

Maybe he stays in Boston and maybe not. One thing you’ll get for sure is his best effort.

No clue on his availability but it would cost a ton. Depending on what they asked I would consider it. actually Outside of Vaak I’d probably tell them to take 1 of whatever they want.

Silfverberg would cost a lot less but same applies.

I like your last scenario. Fills two needs (well, if Puljujarvi develops as hoped).

Then you don’t have to wonder if you can sign the guy you just traded for because they have control for a few more years.

I wonder if anything Bruin between Donny & Keith Gretzky

Not sure what the oilers would have they could flip to Boston

Good news for Oilers though I think they finally have a good hockey man in place who will right the ship

That said I’m Edmonton I’m in full bottom mode

I'm having a tough time thinking we could of had Sam Gagner for our 3rd line for the price of whatever Spooner would cost..What would that be? 2nd rd pick.? 3rd? He's been a consistant 45-50 point player all his career so what gives here?? I BET we would of got him for a 2nd tier prospect. Am I missing something with this player or what is it??
