Thanks !!!

Logic says Schenn

Provides insurance AND could be kept after next season if he looks good as a Bruins

I think it happens

I'm curious DKH, what are your thoughts on picking up a pure rental like E. Staal as the 3rd C as opposed to Schenn who'd immediately tack 5 mil onto next years cap? I'd prefer a pure rental with the idea of one of the kids (JFK, Studnicka) taking over that 3c role next year.

STL would hang up on this offer.

Edit: Not too mention the salary cap issues.

For Tank and Schenn, the package would start with DeBrusk, Frederic, UV, a 1st and a lot more would need to be added.
I was thinking Tarasenko was a free agent this summer, thinking of Panarin.

So Tarasenko isn’t going to happen, but let’s say they do get Schenn... How about going after Dadonov? His cap hit isn’t too bad and he’s only signed through next season, he’d look good with Krejci.

I'll take that bet. I'd love to lose it but I won't.
Schenn is getting traded

Who needs Schenn the most ?
Capitals? No
Pittsburgh? No
Toronto? No
Tampa? No
Boston? Yes

Who has the inventory to do a deal

Sweeney got into the front office career and cited Blues current GM as a big reason

Part of me thinks they are showcasing JFK

But is he available

They get Schenn and Wood my only concern becomes what the weather going to be like the day of the parade

Not sure, I just thought of Florida since they aren’t doing good and thought Dadonov would be an interesting target. I’d be happy with just Schenn but I wouldn’t mind them going after a top 6 RW.

I'm not expecting any moves until the trade deadline, and even then I'm expecting something really, really underwhelming. Marginal talent.

I’m not trading McAvoy especially for Tarasenko

McAvoy is a game changer - apparently he blocked a shot and tore skin like what happened to McDonagh when with the Rangers

Paranoid Bruins fans are acting like it’s between his ears

McQuaid, Miller, Carlo in playoffs, Chara last few years - Defenseman get hurt

As for Tarasenko I’d certainly be interested but he’d be a good package bulk type deal and 0.0 McAvoy is in any deal I’m offering

Tarasenko gets some people fully erect but the player that fits Boston from St Louis is Schenn

On timing, I'd agree. Overwhelmingly deals are slanted to the days around the trade deadline, every year. Very few deals prior. If a move is made, it would likely follow the typical timing.

On content? Seems every year we're underwhelmed. Not sure what to expect. If the answer is more of the same, then I'd rather not do a deal at all.

I love Schenn but my money’s on Buffalo.

They have no second line center so you could make the case they need him more than us. They also have 3 conditional first round picks this year, (including STL’s own pick, either this year or next) and a history of dealing with each other.

At the very least, that’s who I think we’d be bidding against.

FWIW, I agree that they might be showcasing JFK. I would think MIN, AZ and NYR would have particular interest.

I did it on purpose and you caught it.

Is this how our 2019 is going to be?

No Joke, with our defensive depth, these two would make the Bruins very formidable IMO.

I don't think Schenn will move the needle for the Bruins as a 3rd line center for the cost they'll pay for him. Tarenseko can beat any goalie and put the puck where he wants, he's a great sniper. The move to be made is one at RW. If it's McAvoy or DeBrusk, I'd trade McAvoy

But the benefit of getting Schenn is he makes his entire line better. Right now the third line is a black hole, I think a good center will make a big difference. I’d like a winger for Krejci too though.

not sure how effective he'll be on the 3rd line. Last game he skated with Tarenseko and Scwhwarz. Huge downgrade in linemates coming to Boston.

Okay so a lot of this makes sense, especially the JFK piece. Why else is he playing 2RW yesterday? He looked awful. And I know Donato has been close to useless too, but why put JFK there? It really felt weird to me and I did think maybe it could have been a showcase. Only trick there is that I see a little in JFK that I like, but it's at the center spot for sure. If that was a showcase I think it hurt them more than it helped.

Tired argument between us but yeah, Sweeney has "inventory". The questions are a) is that inventory really any good? and b) is he willing/able to move it for a quality piece?

Schenn makes sense to me because he can play 2nd line wing and 3c. He's like the perfect option in that regard. However if he plays 3C you'd still need a good top 6 winger for Krejci as Donato, Heinen, etc. aren't cutting it. They simply aren't there yet and won't be this year. Unless this year doesn't matter.

I`ll respectfully disagree, the C position is absolutely vital in this NHL. The biggest issue the B`s have had is the rotation of mediocre 3rd line C right now. You place a guy like Schenn in this example, in a 3rd line role as the C, a guy who has, up to this putrid season for the Blues been a lock for minimum 50pts, plays with toughness, plays smart in all 3 zones, you won`t convince me that wouldn`t go a long way to improve the club

Now, won`t disagree having a winger with a nose for the net wouldn`t fill a need either, but filling the 3c position is a far greater need IMO, you move McAvoy, you`ll get roasted for years to come

That's preposterous.

McAvoy is a future franchise D, who just turned 21. You don't trade those pieces for players like Tarasenko, who I like a lot mind you.

Blues make that deal immediately, and laugh all the way to the bank.
