I don’t think I’ve ever hated a bruins offseason day more than today. Wow. This is a buyout candidate in two years. Unreal. We have an insane amount of LHD in the pipeline right now as it is. Why on earth do you give this guy 5 years.

Really hoping for a krug package for panarin at this point but if that happens, Moore or zboril will likely have to play 2nd pairing LHD.

Would have much rather not signed Moore, Nordstrom, and Wagner and gave Calvin de Haan that money. God damnit Sweeney.

That contract is easily moveable provided Moore continues to play to the same quality as he did last year moving forward.

Bruins have some good young LD prospects, but right now none are guaranteed to be NHL players. If a couple of them end up NHL players and there isn't room for Moore, with that AAV the Bruins can cross that bridge then.

What are his strengths and is he on the up or downside of things?
Decent skater with some creative offense, but doesn't actually put up a ton of points. Not good in his own end. Fine as a bottom pairing guy.... but 5 years? WTF?

SCOUTING REPORT
ASSETS:
Has a big frame and owns exceptional skating ability. Can play an offensive role when it is required, but is otherwise a very steady defender. Shoots the puck with aplomb. His speed is useful all over the ice.
FLAWS:
Doesn't have high-end offensive ability and is not a natural power-play pointman. Does not use his big frame (6-2, 210 pounds) enough and generally lacks physicality and a mean streak. Lacks consistency, too.
CAREER POTENTIAL:
Solid, mobile defenseman.

By all accounts of Moore from nj media the past two years he’s been exactly an average defensmen. One suggested he’s a bottom pairing dman on a legit contender playing in the top 4 on the devils (who are not.) this might be a bit conspiracy theory ish, but a long term deal and a good contract for a top 4ish type defensemen who you don’t necessarily need sounds like expansion draft bait

Was this written before be played in the NHL because that's not the player that was on the Devils.
