I'll wait to see the numbers but I'm not sure how I feel about this
Figure he'll be better in front of a much better D, at least
meh...that`s all I got
I'd be shocked if the $ were big.
If money is respectable...I'm okay with that.
This is an upgrade over Dobby
Just need Ryder now
I agree. If Rask got sidelined for an extended period of time would feel a lot more comfortable with Halas then AK as Halak has handled heavy workloads in the recent past.
Kind of tells us what they think of Zane, career AHLer
A friendly face for JT?
And Montreal’s 3rd.
Welcome aboard Jaroslav. I’m going to reserve judgement until I see your current form, but hoping for the best.
Is this really "confirmed with link"? More like confirmed with tweet
Hope is way less than Khudobin 2.5M with Dallas
Z will be happy to have a fellow Slovakian on the team.
Halak has been pretty good in the past. Hopefully he can get back to that . I tend to think there is a lot of room to improve over what Dobby has brought the team
Zane unfortunately did nothing last year to indicate he was NHL ready. Basically losing the job in Providence to someone from outside the org is a bad year
Well lets start by saying that the Islanders were the worst team in the league for SF/SA. They had a shot differential of -346. They were one of the worst possession teams in the league as well, with a CF of 47.38% (4th worst). Halak's numbers on the surface aren't anything to write home about, but if you dig a little deeper, he's right there with Khudobin on a few things. Take into consideration the defense each goalie played behind, and the fact Halak played in 23 more games and had around 1000 more minutes:
These are based off their Even Strength (ES) statistics:
ES SV% = .920
LDSV% = .969
MDSV% = .930
HDSV% = .803
ES SV% = .920
LDSV% = .983
MDSV% = .913
HDSV% = .801
Good grab, hope he brings back his level of play he showed with the Habs were he was better then Price. Kind of puts a stop on Zane ever making it here. Another Islander lol, lets get DeHaan and that Traviarez, Travivaries guy, I hear he may be available.
Any word on coin?
Ryder, Halak, 2nd
We haven't seen the money yet but you have to imagine it's less than Khudobin, right?
So what would Tavares think about signing a Islander goalie who couldn't get it done over there? Don't know anything about their relationship but could be negative. Maybe the fact that Halak is the clear cut backup will let him blossom.
About Zane. In the games he played with the big club he left me wondering if he has the mental stability to be an NHL goalie. Didn't saw him play in the AHL last year but read that he was still good for a blunder the every other game. Signing Halak to two years isn't a good sign for his case. I think Bruins move on and will put their hope in Vladar and Swayman. I have specially high hopes in Swayman
An upgrade at backup G
Good job Sweeney
Hard to judge this as we don't know the numbers. Have to expect it is less than Khudobin.
And it had better be a lot less, because at the end of the day, your going from a player who has proven to work in Boston with this coaching staff, team, Rask and this defensive scheme, to essentially an unknown in Halak. He may work out, he may not.
But if the final salary numbers are similar, it's pretty short-sighted to risk the unknown with Halak to save a couple dollars.
Way to early to make that statement.
