He plays a heavier game than Schaller. Schaller plays hard and isn't shy or soft, but Wagner bangs better for sure, so he's an upgrade there.
Wagner is a right shot and opens up left side for Fitzgerald or even Bjork to get time
Going by stats I think Wagner is hot garbage
He’s no Wayne Gretzky or Wayne Simmonds
Love the potential here to bring havoc
I was debating Wingels and Wagner last month and Wagner won out
Good job Donny
Love his game nice pick up.
I don’t see it that way but could be wrong
He plays right side and center
These guys get hurt it’s nice coverage
This was a move I make but hockey is my third sport and I’m American born so I lack the inherent hockey knowledge Canadian folks have
I thought it was excellent but reading others I guess it Sucks bit we shall see
Bruins really have nothing in the system like Wagner. They have very little at RW, especially in natural right-shots.
If he doesn't work out, they can send him to the minors at the cap hit is about 250k, so relax.
Kuraly -- Wagner -- Acciari/?????
Maybe Acciari slots in as the 13th forward.
Hits and is useful (plays a lot of PK), and will make less than Schaller. Thumbs up.
My guess is he bumps Acciari either to LW (Acciari played LW with Kuraly and Backes) or hopefully finally banishes Acciari to the press box as the 13th F.
Overall I really like this move. Guy who can hit AND skate, that's what you want. The fact he can play C and RW is a big bonus. The term is right, the numbers are good, I thought he would get more honestly. If he doesn't work out, he can go to the minors and the cap hit is only small 250k, basically peanuts.
It's a great sigining. We lacked a tough guy last year besides McQuaid and feel we got pushed around and had no respect.
That has now changed with the addition of Chris as long as he continues to lead the league in hits and drops the gloves when need be he could have a job here for the next five years. There is nobody in the system who brings what Wagner does.
Does that mean now Adam is trade bait?
Not seeing the connection. Wagner is a forward, and McQuaid is a defenseman.
I am a fan of Fitzgerald and think he or Bjork will get that spot
Schaller has a lumbering skating stride. Difficult to watch at times. Don’t know much about Wagner. Is he a speedier player? Is he similar to Kuraly? If so I like this move. Modelling around Vegas.
Fitzgerald - Kuraly - Wagner
13th F - Acciari
Wagner is a better skater than Schaller or Acciari.
Here’s where I’m at
DeBrusk- Krejci- Heinen
Donato- Backes - Bjork
Fitzgerald-Kuraly - Wagner
Knocked out in third round conference finals 4-2
Local kid, played at Xaverian.
He's a good skater. Much better than Schaller and definitely faster.
Still would have much preferred to take Bjork play 4th line left wing and go with
Then used that extra money from the Wagner deal to bring back khudobin instead of signing Halak. Especially since the said difference in the Khudobin deal was only $150k
Would have preferred Bjork or Fitzgerald over Wagner. Or even to bring schaller back. Because schaller isn’t going to be making much more then Wagner just got.
Also would have much preferred to give czarnik Wagner’s deal who just got the exact same deal as wagner
We now have two tough guys and if we could move Krecji and McQuaid it would give us room to perhaps try and nab Karlsson.
Why is it written in stone that Acciari is on the 4th line? Wagner brings everything he brings at a greater and more consistent scale. There's still a possibility that Bjork/Fitzgerald are on the 4th line.... Maybe Boston doesn't want to use Bjork on the 4th line?
Acciari has a fine season last year and is cheap. Czarnik could have been has for the same $$ and is much more talented. Fitzgerald would have been cheaper.
As for Bjork I think the best thing to do is start him off in that 4th line role as they did Marchand to get his feet wet. Obviously not looking for Bjork to be a 20 goal scorer but he struggles when he was up here last year so 4th line is a good starting point.
Also with Marchand, debrusk, heinen, donato, pasta and backes that’s 6 wingers to fill out the top 3 lines right there. Where else is Bjork going to start off playing besides the 4th line unless a trade happens?
Is it a bad thing for Bjork to start in Providence? He looked good before he got hurt. After his return, meh... I like his upside a lot and think he's a potential top 6 forward, but if he started in Providence, that wouldn't be the worst thing.
I agree. Let Bjork start in Providence.
If he lights it up there then he's earned a spot, until then he'll be in the AHL.
Riley Nash and Schaller are out imo
Team could also be preparing to trade Backes , pending on what happens with Tavares. Wagner is a nice sandpaper addition regardless
