This was more of a Providence signing than anything, although he's improved every year so far in the AHL while bringing the physical aspect. But again, think this is just Providence-related.

Consistently trended up and is a dogged worker.

Got to see him play while I was working games for the AHL version of the Hamilton Bulldogs. Love his game and he was rewarded this year. 21G in 75 AHL games plus a cup of coffee with Vancouver.

I'd love to see him make a run for a 4th line spot. Likely a call-up though.

Awesome dude, thanks. Any chance he becomes the 13th forward?

Not unless he has an incredible camp or the Bruins move somebody out of that 4th line log jam. Could easily see a call up if the flu hits the team or an injury happens or even if he just continues his upward trend in the AHL he could force his way up.

Can he skate?

Not a burner but its not like he drags boat anchors. I would say average speed, doesn't stand out for his skating but I never found him to be behind the play. Decent hockey IQ usually had him in good position on the occasions I had to see him.

Just watched a few of his fights, he should stop that part of his game.

fighters should fight fighters- he sticks up for teammates (and self) and gets put in a cage he should not enter

never fight out of your class unless you are so damn pissed and it is so personal it doesnt matter

he's a statement player and he'll be both a good example and contributing player in the AHL that could end up seeing a game or two up top if injuries happen

he's not a goon.

He goes to the net and plays strong along the wall

ummmm.....I see a pattern here

Sweeney obviously wants a mentality of aggressiveness to permeate throughout his lineup and up through the system. Was surprised at the Hayes acquisition (and now his current contract) as I believe he fits awkwardly into that equation, but could add that element to his game.

This is going to take a little time, but I believe we are going to see the Bruins play precisely the kind of game their fans generally crave.

Is he related to Laverne?

No, but his AHL team was owned by Hasenpfeffer, Inc, and he has been heard counting to eight.

Like the signings, but this is the one of the three today that I'm probably least excited about...but then again, I think this signing isn't for instant gratification. That said, I'm not sure we need another fighter.

Apologies, I saw a couple of fight videos listed on YouTube and made an uninformed judgement. D'oh

I'm liking everything I'm hearing here. Hopefully one or more of Hickman, Cave, this guy etc. can make an impact at NHL level

Pretty much what I gather. In the it can't hurt category.

We saw a bunch of signings at seasons' end and then saw some Bruins leave in the last little while. Keep the blood pumping is what Sweeney looks to be doing.

Love the numbers this kid put up, although he did play on a very good Comet club so it could be fool's gold. Still an upgrade over Flick.
