And if my memory isn't failing me, Bergeron began at RW as well.

I thought Bergeron played on the left in 2004, no? Which would make more sense for Studnicka since he is a left hand shot. Also speaking of players moving to right wing, Oskar Steen should become a winger for this team. 5'9" is not the body of a Center and he shoots right handed.

Steen didn't fair to well playing the wing in Providence earlier this year, in fact, only since being moved back to center has his game returned.

I don't feel like he is projecting as a future center in Boston, more likely moved at some point for a decent return.

Could be, it's been so long ago now. I know he did play on the wing, though, in his rookie year :)

Bergeron played on the right his rookie year. I believe the line at after the trade deadline was Samsonov-Nylander-Bergeron (fun line). Studnicka is a righty too. I believe Boston wants him in the NHL next year, I could see two scenarios. Break up top line and play him on the RW with Bergeron (before Pasta this was how they broke in every skilled young player). Other option is put him at center and move Coyle to RW (i know it probably hurts Coyles production next year but i think it helps Studincka in that you could always have Coyle take draws if he's getting killed at the dot).

Forgot to mention this weekend while all the trade deadline stuff was going on, but I went to both home game this weekend for the Maine black bears.

I was auditing a company in Maine and was close enough to where they play to check them out. (To be fair it was maine and I have zero friends in Maine so traveling was never second guessed on a Friday/Saturday night.)

but to get back to the point I was incredibly impressed with swayman. He kind of gave me a half and half tuukka/Tim Thomas vibe in the aspect that not only was he very controlled and followed the puck incredibly like tuukka but he also had a couple insane sprawling saves on cross ice passes.

Always been in the camp that was in favor of keyser, but this was the first time I saw swayman and I was stunned.(I see keyser in the providence bruins playoff loss to the Charlotte checkers and was very impressed)

The two games I went to he allowed one goal on 53 shots. He was insane. I will also add that it didn’t appear he had a top end defense. He was making some insane saves that I was completely stunned at.

would love to hear what @lost peanut or @BruinsNetwork have to say about him

Swayman is nails. Without him, Maine would be getting embarrassed quite frequently— especially with this defense that allows him to face the most shots in the NCAA amongst starters.

I’m a Keyser guy and think his potential is higher than Swayman’s. I think Swayman is a great prospect, but Keyser’s ability to dominate a game while doing all that “clutch” stuff is unrivaled. Health issues are a serious concern of mine with Keyser right now.

Swayman looks like someone who has starting potential in some capacity, though. Just need to see him against professional talent. Judging by his athleticism and structural soundness, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him shine.

Trade DK at the draft, get what you can for him and promote Stud and play him at Center. He has the summer to gain some weight and strength, which you need to play Center vs wing.
With the return that Pageau got, I would think we can get more for DK?
Move Coyle to second line and Stud takes over 3rd line.
One of Hall / Lauko or Beecher should be ready in two years to make the team.
Bergy can probably play another 3 years as long as he can stay away from injuries.

How does Swayman's numbers compare to McIntyre's when he played college hockey below? Looks similar to me and ZM has yet to make it to the NHL. I truly hope I am wrong and Swayman can get to the NHL in 2-3 years, we will need a good goalie to replace Rask.

Those North Dakota teams were really good. They had a number of players who went on to be NHLers. This Maine team is devoid of talent. Swayman is easily the best prospect on the team.

The thing with goaltending is that you really don't know what you're going to get until they're in the NHL. It's just a tough position. You can't just go by pure pre-professional stats.

This, North Dakota always has a strong team. Maine lives and dies with Swayman.

I do not follow US hockey, watch the OHL and Q on occasion, so thanks for the info, appreciate it.

UND is significantly better than UMaine though. In the last 10 seasons:

National Tournament
UND - 8
UM - 1

National Titles
UND - 1
UM - 0

National Semi's
UND - 3
UM - 0

Not only that, but look at the two seasons prior to Swayman vs the last two full seasons with Swayman.

Pre Swayman: 19-45-10 (.256 w%)
W/ Swayman: 33-33-8 (.446 w%)

I'm not saying that Swayman is a lock to be a NHL goalie, but what he's doing with a very underwhelming Maine team (talent wise) is impressive. Here are some players I recognize that have played with each goalie at their respective school:

Zane McIntyre
Derek Forbert
Drake Caggiula
Rocco Grimaldi
Jordan Schmaltz
Carter Rowney
Troy Stecher
Paul LaDue

Jeremy Swayman
None

What do you think the chances are of Boston signing Robert Lantosi before next season?

He has 31 points (10+21) and a +10 rating in 47 games with Providence so far this season. Great speed and good hands.

Is only on an AHL contract currently.

Wouldn't surprise me, to be honest. He’s showing some pretty impressive skills down there each night. If I were Boston I’d absolutely take a flier on him and try to move one from a player or two in Providence.

If Wagner is going to miss games, I hope they call up Studnicka. Time to see what he can contribute leading into the playoffs. He may be a secret weapon come playoff time!

I think about Cirelli stepping in after 18 regular season games and what a big impact against Boston in the playoffs a couple years ago.

The obsession with Frederic needing to be called up immediately has reached the obnoxious state.

They won't nor should they. Blidh is up and fills Wagner's spot perfectly.
