Uh, the games are on their site.....I think they announced them awhile ago. They're kind of hidden, though, as they're not on the big schedule.

https://nhl.bamcontent.com/images/assets/binary/299167412/binary-file/file.pdf

The full schedule with the extra two games against the Flyers is:

9/15 Bruins at Calgary Shenzhen, China (time TBD, China is 12 hours ahead, so 9/15 around 7 AM if a night game, or 9/15 1 AM if a Chinese matinee)
9/16 Washington at Bruins 1 PM
9/18 Bruins at Washington 7 PM
9/19 Calgary at Bruins Beijing, China (time TBD, 12 hours ahead, likely 9/19 7-8 AM EDT if 7-8 PM local)
9/22 Bruins at Detroit 7 PM
9/24 Bruins at Philadelphia 7 PM
9/26 Detroit at Bruins 7 PM
9/29 Philadelphia at Bruins 5 PM

I imagine the first four games absolutely have to be split-squad. Not sure about 9/22. By 9/24, the guys from China should be back.

If they play a game at, say, 7 PM on 9/19, that means they could theoretically board a plane at 12:01 AM on 9/20. That's 12:01 PM on 9/19 our time. A 12 hour flight to LA would put them at 9 PM on 9/19. Check them into a hotel, give them all of 9/20 to rest, and they can board a flight in LA on 9/21 to Detroit.

Basically, they traded the one game in QC against the Habs for two games in China against the Flames - everything else is the same.

Any news about broadcasting? On the one hand, "NHL game in China" could be interesting, even to a casual viewer. But probably not interesting enough to wake up early on a Saturday or interrupt the morning talk shows on Wednesday.

They're playing in China on the 15th and then the next day in Boston? And an afternoon game no less?

They must be planning to split the squad. Half at home and half in China? Seems like the main team would want to go to China and they'd need the bigger names to sell the game... The vets in China and the kids stay home?

Good catch - Bruins don't have preseason up on the schedule link

My guess is the vets get first dibs on deciding whether they want to go. If they want to go, they go. If they want to stay (or if they're willing to bite the bullet for the sake of the team from other vets taking spots), they stay. No offense to the Chinese, but would, say, Adam McQuaid or David Krejci really be a bigger draw? Would they care if they saw JFK and Blidh instead? Conversely, in Boston, I'd be the prospect of seeing the "real team" would get more people to the games.

Then again, I'd love to hear that there are "real Bruins fans" in China.

They announced it awhile ago, but it's been a pain to find it on the site. You have to go to schedule, and then click for the "printable version".

I know it's been awhile, because I've been trying to get rid of my Bruins/Wings ticket....or to find someone who wants to switch Hamilton dates with me. Given that it's Hamilton, I'll take my one shot and probably wind up eating the preseason ticket.

If the NHL does what they did last year tickets for the games in China will go on sale in August

2017 NHL China Games tickets now on sale

D'oh, this makes me think....to Playmakers' point, I wonder how many people who go to the China games are from the US and make the trip to China. If that's a big source of ticket sales for the games, they'd be wise to stick all the Bergeron/Krejcis/Marchands in China, and leave behind the kids.

That said, seems like a little bit of a late sale for international travelers, but maybe I'm just not spontaneous enough.

I have to think the star players go to China and STH's will see Providence and Atlanta players against Washington.

What’s the goal with the NHL marketing in China? Just to get them to buy NHL network or to grow the sport in that area of the world?

Do you mean they are playing in Hamilton, Ontario?

Hamilton the play is hitting Boston this fall - almost an impossible ticket
Thanks I was confused as we were talking about pre-season games. A Dougie thrown in would have solved that. Would have been nice to see a game near me for pre-season. Though we were over the Dougie thing by now.

Sorry...sometimes I forget this is an international forum :booboo:. And I try to forget the Dougie version of Hamilton. But I hope the Bruins play a preseason game in Hamilton for you soon, my new Canadian friend.

And, unfortunately, not only are the Hamilton musical tickets hard to get if you didn’t put in for all the other shows...they’re hard to trade. They usually let you switch in and out from one day of a production to another, as there are typically plenty of available seats, and the shows hang around in town for two weeks. But Hamilton’s booked solid - no seats to buy, no trades. But, then again, frankly I don’t really care too much about missing the preseason Bruins/Wings game, so it’s an easy choice.

I do have a feeling that a lot of the big name players will make the trip. I mean, maybe a couple of vets will stay back - in particular, anyone with a wife more than 35 weeks along, or with family who’s getting married. But it’ll definitely be more Providence Gladiators and Atlanta Bruins than usual this year.

It makes me wonder how the split squad will affect how the front office evaluates the players. Obviously watching the taps of the games can help, but you’ll have some of the front office mainly seeing the vets in China, and some mainly seeing the young’uns in the US. I also wonder how they’ll “round out” the team - obviously they have to send some borderline players to China, and keep some borderline players here. Will the players who go to China feel like they’re “preordained”, and the ones who stick around feel like they have no chance? Will the borderline players in China benefit from the increased concentration of veteran players who go there, and will the ones who stay here not get that key aspect in their development?

Call me jaded, but I think a lot of it just happens to be that the CEO of O.R.G. happens to be very into hockey. Yes, getting some fans in China to buy merch and to watch the NHL on some Chinese TV station is a boon to the NHL brand. But a lot of that merch is, ironically, going to be Chinese knock-offs. And I don’t know how much a Chinese NHL contract would be worth, but probably not much compared to the US and Canadian rights.

Some of it might be also a way to reach out to Chinese people in Boston. I mean, Chinatown is just a few T stops away from the Garden, and it’s not a small population. Representation can be important, and if they notice Chinese advertising, and an outreach to their homeland, it might cause some of the Chinese people in Boston to start watching the games and even going to them.

ORG is paying big money to promote this, Bettman will be in China and Jacobs is trying to land concessions in China for 2022.

I have to assume Kevin Dean will run the Bruins camp at Warrior while Cassidy is in China. It is not an ideal situation for a training camp but there is a lot of money involved. Those ads in Chinese that we see at TD Garden are not meant for North American eyes.

The playing in China stuff is silly with that schedule

I get they’ll split the squad but...just seems so dumb

I would get a season opener home and home with 3 days until game 3 back state side but this is just dumb

And we likely won’t be able to watch it, at least not the one on the 19th

Both games from China will be on NESN and NHL Network

That's great to hear! I guess it's breakfast with the Bruins - if NESN's showing it, I'd imagine they'd push for a 7-8 PM/AM start. Literally the only time that makes even an iota of sense for both halves of the world....maybe 8 PM/AM so it's only 6 AM in Calgary? I know they're only preseason games, but if they're going to play them, it's nice to have at least one broadcast team cover them for those who suffer from hockey withdrawl in September.

Looks like the 9/18 game won't be broadcast, barring a cloning experiment involving Jack Edwards...they usually don't bother to show one preseason home game anyway. I only really hope for home games, so I hope y'all can get enough rest to do the 9/26 and 9/29 home games to work out the figurative and literal bugs in the system.

Well bank that 9/29 to be on NESN as FOX will have Sox/NYY

This a great for hockey but for the team needing some evaluation in the preseason, it’s kind of hectic. All the traveling can tire people out. Not a fan really. They’ve been there already, let some other teams go through the experience.

True but most people work or are going to work at 7/8am on the 19th. It’s great they’re showing more preseason games on tv now though at least you can dvr it

Hey Fenway, do you think the NHL will do the same nonsense with nbc local this year again? I’m wary of getting ps vue again because of what happened during last year’s playoffs

What's the schedule for Rookie Camp? I know they're returning to the weekend Buffalo Tournament. Any info past that?

Bruins Announce 2018 Offseason Critical Dates & Preseason Schedule

BOSTON BRUINS 2018 ROOKIE AND TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE PRESENTED BY AT&T:
-Practice times and locations will be announced at a later date
Tuesday, September 4 (The International, Bolton, MA)
-Boston Bruins Foundation Golf Tournament
Thursday, September 6 (Warrior Ice Arena, Boston, MA)
-Rookie Camp opens
Friday, September 7 (HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY)
-Prospects Challenge Rookie Game vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, 3:30 p.m.
Saturday, September 8 (HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY)
-Prospects Challenge Rookie Game vs. Buffalo Sabres, 7 p.m.
Sunday, September 9 (HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY)
-Practice, 12:30 p.m.
Monday, September 10
-Prospects Challenge Rookie Game vs. New Jersey Devils, 9:30 a.m. (HarborCenter, Buffalo, NY)
-Main Camp Opens (Warrior Ice Arena, Boston, MA)

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well could be), but it pretty much looks like the weekend tournament IS the rookie camp, except for a single day at Warrior. They say "practice times will be announced later", but I assume that means when/where they practice in Buffalo.
