Another option has surfaced as the new Encore Casino has hinted they are planning on an arena - and they have the land less than 3 miles from TD.

Could Delaware North make up the dates if the Celtics where to leave?

Easier to hide the spills and stains on black (vs "lighter" colors).

The Celtics pay NO RENT and are allowed control of all the advertising inside the building during a game - The Bruins control concessions and the luxury seating.

BUT the Celtics are going to have the same seat issues that they can't fix and have angry customers.

Enter Wynn who has spent $2.6 BILLION on the Boston resort and has said they will build an arena for concerts but if they can land the Celtics all bets are off. The land is NOT an issue.

That doesn't look comfortable at all.

Fans are willing to tolerate a lot. Lack of legroom is a hard thing to swallow, though. Did any of the suits even try to sit in any seats, or is that too close to the unwashed masses for them?

If a game is intrinsically uncomfortable to attend, that's going to reduce interest in attending when televised options are still available. Sure, nothing beats live hockey, but I'll take comfortable and massively cheaper games on a big screen tv on a nice couch versus forking over $100+++ and leg cramps.

As a season ticket holder, Madison Square Garden screwed the fans over with the seating. The seats are smaller and there is no leg room or width. It is the most uncomfortable feeling sitting in those seats as you have no room and feel like your sitting middle seat on a plane. No room to move at all and has lead to me going to less games because of it. You would think they would add more room given people are getting bigger and taller. Terrible misjudgment and a slap in the face of true fans (seats are wider for the lower sections at the garden). At least you don’t have a chase bridge blocking half or all view of the scoreboard, banners and “iconic” Madison square garden ceiling.

Not really related, but the huge scoreboards are absolutely horrible. The one at Prudential Center is extremely distracting if you're sitting in the upper level, and it's totally unnecessary.

About 25 years old. Wear and tear.

aisles didn’t change so they needed to select a cushioned chair that would fit.

As for the Celtics moving to the casino? Probably comes down to the agreement they get plus the convenience of the casino location in relation to TD which is right off a subway terminal.

I’m sure the casino will have the required parking on game nights and concert nights. How does it work for public transportation?

The proposed arena would be at the power plant location which Encore has the option on. They are already close to a deal for a people mover from the subway and the commuter rail tracks are adjacent to the site.

I doubt it will happen but now the Celtics have some leverage AND a willing partner for an arena.

Leverage for what? They are not gonna get a better deal than the one they have now.

Wait, I wasn't even aware that a new arena was on the table for discussion in Boston.

Does that mean we'd finally get a sequel to Celtic Pride? Gotta close out the Celtics/Bruins arenas with an Akroyd/Stern/Wayans movie. It's tradition now.

Figure you do it section by section on off time. The problem is finding a solution that will let you keep the extra 500 seats, because as the Ferengi would say once you got their money you never give it back.

I don't understand why the Bruins capacity went from 17,565 to 17,123 or so.

But, the Celtics have remained at 18,626.

    Hmmm...

they use more of the court-side seating, rather than the loge/balcony

I for one can't believe an organization run by cheapskate miser/shame of the city of Buffalo Jeremy Jacobs would do something on the cheap.

Boston should really look towards a possible scenario. If the patriots want to look into moving to the city if they fall off a cliff post Brady/Bill or if the Redsox ever need a new park both would be better uses for the power plant site.

why would the need for either Fenway or Gillette to be replaced, Centrum, you're forgetting Patriot Place is part of the Gillette facility, the only downside to Gillette that is the road infrastructure leading into it and there are no signs directing you to Foxboro from anywhere else in Massachusetts, or north of there, Worcester is prominently highlighted as is Providence, RI

Was the scoreboard size limited to preserve the capability to raise it into the rafters to get it out of the way for concerts?

The Patriots are fine right where they are in Foxborough. If you think the traffic is bad getting into and out of Foxborough, I can’t imagine getting into and out of the city for a stadium twice the size of the present Fenway Park.

Believe it or not, New England had an NFL team prior to 2001. They even had periods of success from time to time. A move to Boston will certainly not do anything to attract fans if the Patriots “fall off a cliff” as you say. I think the Krafts will make damn sure that 2-14 and 1-15 are a thing of the distant past. The Patriots will be contenders for years to come.

As for the seats at the Garden, with all I’ve heard about the new seats, it’s a huge reason I haven’t bought tickets to a Bruins game this season. I’m not a tiny guy, and I won’t pay anyone $100+ to subject me to 3 hours of discomfort.

    Ain’t happenin’.

This is the peak of capitalism folks. You are the wet towel of revenue and they mean to wring every last drop out of you. The bottom line is the only line.
